Though yes, if you wanted to get technical, I kind of had been.

Bo looked like he didn't believe me, but he let it drop.

"Listen, Kent," he said and gently pulled me to the side of the hall, so we were out of the flow of people. Lowering his voice so only I could hear, he went on, "I appreciate you doing this. I know I sprungthe whole girlfriend thing on you."

"Shonda kind of sprung it on both of us," I replied. "But it's okay."

"It is?" he asked, searching my face.

"Yeah, but I think we should lay out some ground rules."

Bo looked curious. "What kind of rules?"

"Ones that'll keep us on track, make sure no one gets hurt," I said, looking around. "But we can talkabout it later at the flower shop."

He waited until I met his gaze.

"You gonna run again?" he asked.

"You're funny, Kent."

"Hey, if you're Iceman, does that make me Icewoman?"

Bo's jaw twitched, but he didn't smile. Dangit.

"I'll see you later," he said.

"Can't wait, Flower Boy," I said back.

Bo shook his head. "Rule one, don't call me that."

"Ah, you love it."

He didn't respond, but I thought I saw his lips tick up on one side.

"But I haven't even gotten to the theme, colors, and fundraising initiatives," I said, holding up the packet I'd printed out."We almost didn't reach our goal last year. Libraries everywhere are struggling. We've got a lot of work to do."

She and Natalia groaned.

"What's that for?"
