"What?" I said.

Casey gestured to where the couple had just retreated.

As I followed her gaze, I realized they'd gone to...the ancient history section.

Oh no.

"Looks like you'll get your chance to break up a make-out session after all," Casey said with a grin."Or watch."

"Can't one of you just—"

"Nope," Casey intoned, cutting me off."This is your time, Lottie. Embrace your destiny."

I went to protest again, but Natalia gave me a somber salute. "Good luck, my friend.May his kissing skills be as glorious as they are in my head."

Forcing a laugh, I turned and began walking toward the stacks.

As if I cared about his kissing skills.

Bo Stryker was seriously the worst.

CHAPTER 2

I didn't know what I expected.

I'd already decided there would be no watching. I wasn't some kind of voyeur despite what Casey said—and if I'd occasionally ogled Bo and found that little scar on his jaw distracting, that didn't mean I wanted to make the transition into full-on stalker.

As a hopeless romantic, I was also against interrupting any form of romantic interaction. My plan was to just check things out, make sure no books were injured in the course of…whatever…and then leave.

But as I drew closer, Addison's words surprised me.

"Why are you being like this?" she said.

"Like what?" Bo replied.

"This," she said, and when I caught sight of them, they weren't locked at the lips or doing anything else risqué. There was a huge gap between their bodies. Addison stood facing Bo, the two of them as far apart as the library aisle would allow. Istopped one aisle away and could only see the back of Addison's head and Bo's face.

Predictably, he was frowning.

"You act like we barely know each other," Addison said.

"That's because it's true," Bo said back.

"But that's what I'm saying. We totally could," she said, stepping toward him. "You'd like me, Bo. Everybody does—well, everybody with good taste."

Addison put her hand against his chest and tilted her head back.

"Don't you want to get to know me?"

She leaned up, but Bo turned his head.

Addison laughed it off. "Can't you just kiss me like a normal guy?"

Bo sniffed.

"And would it kill you to smile once and a while?"

"It might," he said.
