I shook my head. "I'm off to assist Bo," I said. "Bye, Scar."
"Bye," she said then added, "and hey, if the 'assist' involves your lips touching his, I wanna be the first to know."
Flipping off your sister was wrong, right?
I held up a peace sign instead.
"That video deserves a part two," she called which made some of the people within hearing distance giggle.
Despite my chagrin, I ducked my head andgave a small smile. I knew if Scarlett thought I wastruly upsetshe would've never shared it. Still. I looked forward to the day when I could tease her about something.
Bo's locker was only a few feet away.
Eyes followed me every step in that direction.
When I got there, however, I pulled up short.
The sight that greeted me was a surprise.
Bowas standing with his arms crossed, glowering at Leif, whose back was pressed up against the lockers. Though Leif was trying to play it cool, hispretty-boysmile wobbled at the edges. And Bo…well, his glare held the fire of a thousand suns.
Time to lower the temperature.
"Hey guys," I said as I walked over to them."This looks like a fun discussion. Mind if I join?"
"Charlotte," Leif said with a sigh of relief, "I'm so glad it's you. I was just telling your boyfriend it's no big deal. I wasn't trying to upset anyone by posting that video."
I was about to correct his use of the word 'boyfriend' but didn't get a chance.
Bo's glare remained on Leif as he said, "You embarrassed her."
"Really?" Leif said, turning to me then back to Bo. "She doesn't look embarrassed."
"You need to take the video down," Bo said. "Now."
"I told you I can't."
As Bo seemed to expand before my eyes, Leif held up a hand.
"Well, I could," Leif amended, his voice rising a few octaves. "I absolutely could, but it wouldn't do any good at this point."
His eyes shifted to me then as if I would be the voice of reason.
"Charlotte, listen. Everyone's already seen it," he said."The video's a big hit.Deleting it won't do anything."
I cocked my head. "I don't even get how you captured it. If I remember right, you said you werealmostready to record."
Leif grinned. "Ah, well, you get better performances out of people when they don't knowthey're on camera. It's a little trick of the trade."
Bo looked like he was ready to breathe fire, but I wasn't quite done questioning Leif.
"Why'd you do it?" I asked. "Seriously Leif, I thought you just wanted to commemorate your first visit to the library."
"I did," he said with a nod. "I posted the selfie, but it didn't getmuchlove. Apparently, people aren't interested in stupid things like books."
Okay, now, even I wanted to smack him.
"But they go crazy over a little mouth-on-mouth action," he added with a wink. "You and Bo know what I'm talking about. It was getting hot up in that library. You feel me?"
