"That's what I'm here for." Scarlett and I rose at the same time. "Besides, I hope all the others crash and burn. I'm pulling for Bo. You and he are meant to be."

I scoffed.

"You know I'm right 99 percent of the time."

She was, but… "You're wrong about this," I said.

"Am I?" she said innocently.

I was about to respond, but Scarlett hip-checked me, making me stumble and careen sideways into something.

Correction, someone.

A tall someone with broad shoulders, a firm chest, and large hands. Oh yes, and an undeniably attractive frown.

Karma must really hate me.

CHAPTER 5

"Kent," Bo said, helping me right myself.

"Stryker," I said back. My cheeks were burning, and I was trying to forget the way his hard chest felt against my fingertips. As I looked back for my sister, she had disappeared. Coward. "It's such a nice day. Don't you think?"

"I guess."

"Did you know that a jacket like the one you're wearing is perfect for either a sunny afternoon or a slightly overcast one?" I rambled.

"No," he said.

I nodded. "Well, now you do. Ta-ta."

I turned away and closed my eyes. Had I actually just said 'ta-ta' to Bo Stryker? Wonderful, Lottie. Just wonderful.

"Hey wait," Bo said then stepped up to me, holding something in his hand. "You dropped this."

My eyes widened as they landed on the little yellow note.

"What's it for anyway?"

I snatched my list from him and tucked it quickly into my pocket. "Nothing," I said.

Bo's eyes narrowed.

Before he could say anything else, I waved and got the heck out of there.

Unfortunately, after a few steps, I realized Bo was following.

"Something else on your mind?" I asked.

"Still curious about that list of names," he said.

I tried picking up the pace, but of course, Bo was in peakphysical condition. The guy could probably run a 5K in his sleep. He lived and breathed soccer, looked like he could keep this up forever.

"What was all that about, Kent?"

"Like I said, it's nothing." I swallowed. "Don't you have a class to get to?"

"Yeah, psychology. The same one as you," he said.
