"Why?"

"Because this one was just for us."

Bo tucked my hair behind my ear, his eyes following the movement, as I shivered.

"Are we an 'us'?" he said softly.

"Only if you want to be."

A beat passed, and I held my breath.

"I do." Bo pushed his hands into his pockets and gave an adorable shrug of those big shoulders. "Iwant you, Kent."

"That's good, Stryker," I murmured. "Because Iwant you too."

Bo's smile was brighter than a thousand suns.

Just like that, my heart let him in without question. I lowered my shields.Perhaps, I should've been more cautious. But I'd read somewhere that kissing could addle your brainand affect your judgment. And Bo's kisses were better than good.

They were soul-stirring.

So, I kept on smiling, filled with joy and happiness.

And completely unaware of what was coming.

CHAPTER 23

The first sign that something was off came when my sister and I were on our way to school.

"How are things with Bo?" she asked.

"They're good." A blush immediately swept up my cheeks, and I couldn't fight back a smile. "You're actually the first person I've told, but we'retogether now. For real."

"Oh my gosh!"

Scarlett squealed, dancing around in her seat.

"I knew it," she said. "Iknewit! This is my I-told-you-so dance."

I shook my head. "Youseriously needlessons, Scar. Those moves aren't even to the beat."

"They go perfectly with the musicin my head," she retorted then turned to me with a smile. "How did it happen?"

I told her about inviting Bo to the library, recording the video, and then what happened in the stacks.

"He said he has feelings for me." I sighed. "And then he kissed me, and oh, Scar. It was beautiful."

The whole weekend had been a whirlwind.Bo and I texted and talked nonstop after the kiss, and I couldn't remember a time when I'd been happier.

"I knew he could do it," Scarlett said with a smile.

My brow furrowed. "What do you mean?"

"Ah, nothing."

She waved it off, but I was still curious. "No, really. You knew he could do what?"
