"You're staring at the door again," Casey commented.
"No, I'm not," I mumbled, looking away. "And if I was, it's because Tuesday we're supposed to start loading in all the furniture for A Night Out with Austen. I was eyeing the door dimensions to make sure there wouldn't bea problem."
Natalia tapped her chin. "Hmm, I thought you did that weeks ago."
I had.
"And didn't you measure this morning when you got here?"
Yes again.
"Lottie, stop it with the lame excuses," Casey said. "Bo's on his way, and you can't wait to see him."
"And kiss him," Natalia added.
"And love on him."
"And record every sweet, sweet moment."
"It must be tough kissing your hot boyfriend for charity."
"But someone's gotta do it."
They high-fived, and I gave them my meanest glare.
"Friends don't tease friends," I said.
The girls laughed, and I gave a sniff.
"At least not about important stuff."
"They absolutely do," Casey retorted. "Teasing your friends is almost entirely what makes life worth living. Well that, and baked goods."
"And pizza," Natalia added.
Casey's eyes went liquid. "Ooh, pizza is the best."
I grinned. "If you guys are hungry, take a break. Bring me back something."
"Yeah, right," Natalia said. "And miss you and Bo's kissfest? I don't think so."
"I am hungry," Casey added with a bounce of her brows, "for love. Starving for it actually."
The bell above the door chimed and in walked Bo.
He couldn't have known what we'd been talking about.
But his eyes went straight to mine.
"That look is everything," Casey whispered.
"I'm living for it" Natalia said back, and I shushed them both as Bo stepped up to the counter.
"Sorry, Kent," he said. "I tried to hurry, but work ran late.We had a lot of deliveries today."
I nodded. "Anyone I know?"
Bo gave a shrug. "There was one for Bianca Briggs."
