I tried not to examine the reason for that too closely.
CHAPTER 18
Mrs. Lee didn't beat around the bush. The next time Istepped inside the flower shop, shewas there, and it looked like she'd been waiting for me. With a scowl, she said,"You are seeing my grandson."
I didn't know what to say back.
"Well?"
"Did he say something?" I asked.
She put her hands on her hips. "Bo didn't tell me anything. I saw you at his game."
"Ah."
"You're very loud," she said.
I blushed. "Well…I'd never been to a game before, so it was the first time I saw him playin person. He was impressive."
Mrs. Lee lifted a brow. "My grandson's always impressive."
"Yes."
"He had his arm around you," she commented. "And he asked me to make extra kimchi for the Kent family. So? Are you with him?"
Bo came around the corner then with a sigh. "Halmeoni, I told you already," he said.
"You did?" I asked, wondering exactly what he'd revealed. She was his grandmother. They obviously had a special bond. I couldn’t see him outright lying to her.
"We're together," he said simply.
Two words.
They were ambiguous and vague and yet…
My heart thrilled at hearing them.
I needed to get out of there before I did something stupid.
"Well, I'm off to the library," I announced which was unnecessary. Mrs. Lee knew my schedule. "See you guys later."
"Wait," Mrs. Lee said.
I was worried that she might ask more questions, but she merely gave me a flinty stare.
"Bo, you go with her."
He sidled up to my side with a nod.
"Bring these back for me," she continued, passing him a small stack of books as well as a note with scrawl that I recognized instantly. "My hip has been acting up again."
"Of course,Halmeoni," he murmured.
I tried not to show my surprise as Bo grasped the books and note, refusing to meet my eyes.
Mrs. Lee. She was the romance reader, not him.
Unless maybe Bo read the books too?
