I sniffed. "Why shouldanyonedoubt it? Good job, boyfriend. Now, I'm off to find my sister."
"Bye, Kent. Drive safe."
As I walked away, I made sure that my back was facing him, so he could really take in the awesomeness. My t-shirt was green and white—Chariot High's school colors—and on the back, I'd added the iron-on letters to form a word.
Icewoman.
It had gotten a laugh out of Bo, so I considered that a win.
And I hadn't kissed him.
Even though I'd really,reallywanted to.
Which was another win—right?
CHAPTER 17
If not kissing Bo was a win, I deserved a freaking medal.
We fell into a rhythm at school, and though the "relationship" was new and totally fake, no one, as far as I could tell, was questioning it. No doubt that had something to do with how fantastic Bo was at pretending.
I was good.
It didn't take much for me to act like I was affected by Bo's presence. I was—even if I wished it wasn't the case. My faking it wasn't so much faking as, well, an unintentional, real reflex.
But Bo?
He was a master.
The handholding, the little touches, the way words like "girlfriend" rolled off his tongue with seemingly no effort at all. Sometimes, I'd catch him looking at me. His expression blanked the second he realized I was looking. But during those times, even I wondered if maybe…
This was a side of Bo I'd never seen before. All of it, basically everything Bo did, made me want to do crazy things, like kiss him. All the time. But I held back because:
1)I really wasn't interested in putting my heart out there.
And 2) Bo couldn't, in a million years, have feelings for me.
If I needed proof of that, I got it when we were talking about the bet.
Shonda Lawrence had come up to me while Bo and I were walking in the hall.
"Glad I found you, Lottie," she said with a huge grin. "Here."
As she passed me an envelope, I looked to her with a clear question on my face.
"It's your prize for winning the HUBS bet."
"Oh," I'd said in surprise, "well, thanks."
"Courtesy of all the people who wanted a shot with your boyfriend."Shonda threw me a wink. "Have fun with that."
I shrugged at Bo as she left then openedwhat she'd given me. It was filled with money. My eyes widened as I counted then looked up to Bo.
"There's $300 in here," I said.
"Really? Didn't know I was so popular."
I shot him a look of disbelief. "Having all those girls after you?Admit it, you enjoyed the craziness."
