“But they are all so very yummy.” She licks her lower lip and stares off like she is envisioning something I do not need to hear.

“Turn up the music,” I say and Luna looks up in the rearview mirror, her gaze locking with mine. “I’m warning you, do it, fast.”

“We have this drawer of toys,” Aurora says and I cover my ears, knowing what is coming. “He used this vibrating thing on me once, and I know the neighbors had to hear me screaming. Then he put this ring thing on his?—”

Suddenly the music blares and I laugh.

“I tried to warn you,” I say over the music.

I love this, my family, the extended version with the guys and their girls, and the babies. My father, the man who they’ve all adopted as Papa Craig. He treats them all like his kids and grandkids, it makes me so happy. I wish my mom was here because I know she’d love this family too. She adored loud crowded homes, with lots of chaos and laughter.

Sonya, my father’s girlfriend, is the next best thing though. If I can’t have my mom, I’m more than happy to accept her love and support.

“No one has said anything to Presley, right?”

“Nope,” I say. “It’s supposed to be a surprise party, as long as she doesn’t get Zac to squeal.”

“I never thought I’d see Zac so whipped. He tries to be all domineering and in control, but Presley bats her eyes and he instantly melts.” Aurora smiles. “I love it for her though. After Grant and how awful he was to her, she deserves a good guy. She deserves one that will bend over backwards to make sure she is always smiling.”

“She is the same way with him too, though,” Luna adds as she pulls out onto the highway. “He pouts, she babies him. He gives her that look and she is putty, it’s so sweet.”

“One thing that drives me crazy is that they refuse to find out the sex. How are we supposed to know what to buy?” I am terrible with surprises.

“Neutral colors. There is no theme, just colors. Tans, sage, yellow, can’t go wrong there.” Aurora is bobbing her head to the song on the radio. “I think it’s a girl though.”

“Why?”

“I just do.” No rhyme or reason, just her thoughts. It’s easier to let Aurora think she is right. Arguing would take too long, because she isn’t one to back down. It’s one of the many reasons why she is and has always been my best friend. She is fierce and strong, she is a force.

“Do you need me to take off my shirt?” I pause outside Luna’s room when I hear a deep voice. “I don’t mind.”

I remain where I am, feeling my pulse quicken. I swear I can hear my heart beating rapidly in my ear.

“I think this works,” Luna replies.

“When there is a pretty lady who has her hands all over your body, you don’t mind making it a little easier for her.” The asshole chuckles and I feel the heat in my ears. “Truth is I get the ink so I can feel you touch me more than anything.”

That’s it, I’m done.

I push the door open the rest of the way and notice both of them looking in my direction. Luna smiles knowingly, she doesn’t even ask why I’m there, she knows.

“I think I’ll join you,” I say as I step into the room and find a chair. Pulling it up, I scoot in close, so the fucker is in my line of sight. “I enjoy watching my wife work.” I notice the way he shifts his gaze to look at her, then me, then back to Luna.

“Wife?”

“Yeah,” I say. “Wife.” Take that, fucker. I want to laugh and I can tell Luna wants to also. She won’t admit it, but she loves when I get all possessive. It may make me an ass, I may sound controlling and all that shit, but I don’t fucking care. She. Is. Mine.

Never loved another person more than I love her. She is my heart. I’d do anything for her.

“I didn’t know you were married.” The douche clears his throat.

“I don’t normally talk personal with my clients,” she says and at the same time I say, “Now you know.” It was me, staking a claim and ensuring he respect the fact from here on out.

The rest of the appointment was quiet, at least on her client’s part. I fucking talked like I was in a room full of friends. I enjoyed his discomfort, in fact it was my goal. The more he twitched and shifted around nervously the better I felt.

When he was finished and they walked toward the front to pay, I stood in the doorway of her room, leaning against the frame. My arms and elbows crossed and a smirk on my face. It was the best hour and a half I’d had all day.
