“They are to me.”
Richard put his arms around Lucas again. “The stone is purple like the first flowers you bought me. The rest is black and white, like our souls. Plus, there are dragonfly wings on it. You couldn’t have picked out anything better for me. This is perfect. You’re perfect.”
“Do you forgive me for having Maribeth drag you all over the city today so we could set this up?” Lucas asked with his one-dimpled smile.
“Yes, but Dad might not when he finds out how much money we spent.”
“Let’s not discuss it. I’d like to enjoy tonight without my blood pressure rising,” Clark drawled. “Have a glass of champagne. You two have earned it, and congratulations.”
Richard had to release Lucas briefly to hug his family, but he was soon at his fiancé’s side again. “Thanks, Mari, it must’ve been killing you to keep this secret to yourself all day.”
“You have no idea,” Maribeth said, then swigged half her champagne glass down in a single swallow. “I saw the ring before I left. It took every bit of self-control I possess not to brag about how beautiful it was and how great your Lucas is at picking jewelry.”
“I appreciate how much effort everyone put into today,” Richard said, happy tears falling from his eyes as he surveyed the cheerful faces of his family. As for his soulmate, Lucas’s heart was there in his gaze. “I’ll cherish you forever, Lucas.”
“I feel the same way about you, Dragonfly.”
Chapter 33
Afew hours later, Richard finally had Lucas alone in their suite. He shut the door behind them and hustled to his closet. Richard tossed his boots in and winced at the bags piled in there. As they’d celebrated his engagement, Maribeth had snuck out and dragged everything upstairs. At least Richard’s father wouldn’t complain until morning.
Needing to distance himself from the mess, Richard closed the closet door and faced Lucas.
“Did you want to take a bath to relax?” Lucas asked, sliding out of his suit jacket.
“That sounds like a fantastic idea. Mari must’ve dragged me to every Marwood property today. My credit card is probably sobbing.”
“Go ahead, I’ll get changed and we can cuddle as soon as you’re freshly scrubbed.”
Richard was tempted to roll his eyes, but he was in too good of a mood to be sassy. “Lucas, the only way I’m crawling into a bathtub is if you’re getting in there with me.”
The inspirit’s gaze lit up. “I’d love to. Do you have any bubble bath?”
Amused, Richard went into the adjoining bathroom and sat on the edge of the tub to adjust the temperature as the water spilled out. “Of course I do.”
“With a fruity scent.”
“Can you imagine me smelling any differently?”
“Nope. Don’t want to either.”
Adoring him, Richard plucked his favored bubble bath from its spot in the linen closet and emptied a healthy portion into the tub. It was far more than he normally used, but he didn’t want to disappoint Lucas with a lackluster amount of froth. Once he was finished, Richard set the bottle on the edge of the tub and watched with avid interest as Lucas stripped.
The inspirit had a long lanky body, and the muscles of his chest and stomach flexed as he peeled off his shirt. Richard’s heart thudded as the desire built inside him. His cock plumped in the tight confines of his thong. Richard didn’t care for the restricted feeling but was too enraptured by the way Lucas was loosening his belt to do anything about it.
“Are you taking a bath in your clothes?” Lucas asked.
“Nope, but I’m busy watching you undress right now.”
“You like what you see?”
Richard licked his lips as his gaze landed on the half-hard dick straining against the plaid of Lucas’s boxers. “Absolutely.”
“Do you have plans for me after the bath, Dragonfly?”
A myriad of ideas rushed into Richard’s mind, but there was no question what he wanted most. The past had no power in his relationship with Lucas. Richard loved it whenever Lucas toyed with his hole. Nothing increased his pleasure like having Lucas’s mouth or fingers in and around his pucker.
The sexy fantasies he’d eschewed following a harrowing experience with a careless stranger had returned. But Richard didn’t have to worry about a repeat of that night. Lucas was far too conscientious about ensuring they both enjoyed their lovemaking for it to be anything but wonderful.
