I shook my head. “Scratched up, but fine. You were shot with arrows and still have one in you!”

He shrugged. “Happens.”

I touched under his right eye. “They’re red.”

He dipped his head and kissed me chastely. “That happens too, love.”

“Are you okay?” I asked, my throat tight.

“I am.”

“Hannah,” I said fast. “The black wolf—he’s the one who saved me in Romania.”

Jonathan tensed. “I know. He’s keeping her safe for us.”

“W-why?” I asked.

“I don’t know,” he confessed.

“Bitch,” spat Lester as he stumbled toward me. He lifted his cut-open arm and pointed at me. “You may think this is over. That you’ve won, but you haven’t. The Order knows where you are now. They helped orchestrate getting you here. They’re who sent you the vision that got you here. You played right into their hands, and your bitch of a sister ran right behind you—just like they knew she would.”

I glared at him. “Listen here, creepster, if you think of laying a hand on my sister, she’ll rip it off and feed it to me. Wait, ew, I don’t want to eat anything from you.”

Jonathan growled. “That’s creepster? The man you mention in your journal?”

“You read my journal?” I asked, stunned.

He nodded. “I did. Is that him?”

I nodded.

He kissed my cheek. “Excuse me a second.”

The next I knew, my husband was to Lester, ripping the man in half with one hard yank. He dropped both halves of Lester and set his sights on my aunt, who was crawling backward on the ground, staring horrified at what was left of her boyfriend.

The huge wolf with one brown eye and one green eye, who reminded me a lot of Jonathan, snarled and snapped its jaws at Helen.

Jonathan nodded to the wolf. “Thank you for answering the pack summons, Kellan. And thank you for protecting my mate. I trust you’ll see your way back to Dr. Hartshorn’s without issue?”

Kellan inclined his head.

Jonathan looked to be struggling with his emotions. He cleared his throat. “I also hope this is the first step for you on your path back to us.”

Kellan focused on Helen, no longer giving Jonathan his attention.

“Kellan,” I said quickly. “Thank you.”

He glanced at me briefly before growling at Helen again.

The other wolves closed ranks, moving in around Helen, giving her no route of escape.

Jonathan looked out over them all. “Thank you. See to it that she’s taken and secured in a holding cell at the estate. Keep guards on her. I want answers on what she’s been up to with The Order.”

Helen hissed.

I rolled my eyes. “Shut up, Aunt Helen. It’s over. You lose.”

The black wolf was still close to Hannah.
