Mina looked at her. “I’m glad you didn’t get dead. And I’m really glad you and England found each other again. I’m going to take Temperance back to that giant mansion full of hot guys and the crazy lady. Take some time with your daughter and, uh, your husband.”

Everyone filed out, leaving Jonathan alone with Willa and his daughter. Willa went right for Hannah and embraced her. Jonathan wanted to do the same but held back, knowing his daughter wasn’t ready for that just yet.

ChapterThirty-Five

Willa

I squeezedmy daughter tighter as I kissed her temple. “I’m sorry I took off like I did without telling anyone.”

Hannah hugged me back. “When Aunt Mina admitted that’s what you did and why, I got really worried. Tempi told me you were fine and not to worry, but Mom—”

I cupped her face. “I’m sorry, honey. I should have listened to Mina and waited, but what I saw seemed so real.”

Hannah lowered her gaze. “Sometimes it's hard to tell which visions are real and need to be taken at face value and which ones just symbolize something else.”

My brow knit. “Honey, I know that, but how do you?”

She refused to look at me.

“Hannah, have you had visions?” I asked, sure that I was wrong. She’d have told me, right?

She nodded slightly.

“Hannah?”

She drew my hands away from her face. “It’s okay. And can we not talk about it right now? Please.”

With a sigh, I nodded. “Okay, but can we talk about it later? When you’re ready?”

“Yes,” she whispered.

“Honey, I’m so sorry that I ruined your visit at Yale,” I said, tearing up. “I’ll schedule another one. I promise.”

“No,” she said fast. “I don’t want to go there. Neither does Temperance.”

“What? I thought it was your top choice?” I asked, confused. “You’ve been studying its architecture and history for months now.”

“Mom, I study everything all the time,” she countered.

I laughed softly. “That’s true.”

“The campus is nice, and the school is great. It just doesn’t feel right,” she admitted. “It’s not where I’m supposed to be.”

“And where is it you think you’re supposed to be?” I asked.

“Honestly, I don’t know. I’ll know it when I see it,” she supplied.

“All right, when we get home, you and I can sit down and plan some more campus tours,” I said. “I’m guessing Temperance will want to see more too. I doubt she’ll go anywhere you aren’t.”

“Go home?” she asked.

I nodded. “Yes. Back to our lives.”

Hannah glanced past me at Jonathan. “I kind of assumed our lives were here now.”

I realized then that she didn’t want to leave her father. “There is a lot that has happened today. A lot came to light. It’s going to require an adjustment period, and there will be kinks to work out. But, no matter what, I’ll make sure you have time to get to know him, Hannah.”

“You’re not going to stay here, in Grimm Cove, and let us be a family here?” she asked.
