I patted Craig’s arm. “Look harder at him and think of him with a beard and longer hair.”

Craig did. He gasped. “You were here, all those years ago!”

Stratton nodded, his jaw tight. “You’restillhugging my wife and I know damn well you had a thing for her.”

Willa nodded. “They dated.”

I groaned. “For the billionth time, we never dated.”

Craig stared at me, his eyes moist. “You’re okay?”

I nodded.

“And you’re happy?” he asked.

“Yes, very much so,” I said. “And I’m really glad to see that you’re okay too.”

He kissed my forehead and stepped back, nodding to Stratton. “Hurt her and I’ll snap your neck and hide your body.”

“Another Team Adam.” Drest laughed. “Stratton, you might want to get that honeymoon started now. People are lining up to end you.”

Dave came rushing in through the front door. He saw Torid and stopped. “I was worried you were eating innocents.”

Torid barked playfully and then grumbled, motioning with his head toward Stratton. He then growled at Craig.

It was then Stratton remembered how much Torid had seemed to dislike Craig years ago, and how he’d sworn to himself to buy the dog a steak.

Dave’s eyes widened right before he flashed fang, snarling in Stratton’s direction. “You claimed her?”

Stratton groaned.

Marcy chuckled. “Oh look, someone else joined the queue line. Team Adam really filled up fast. We should have T-shirts made. But I’m Team Stratton.”

I shook my head. “Seriously, no one is allowed to kill my husband.”

“Thanks,” said Stratton, pulling me away from Craig and into his arms.
