Nico keeps telling me to wake up and to keep my eyes on him. I am, aren’t I?

Chapter33

Frankie

Arriving at the yard, I see Tony up ahead with a guy I haven’t seen before. I think Tony called him Tommy or Bobby. I mean, who the fuck knows and who the fuck cares.

If you didn’t know them, you’d think they were chatting like it was just another day, but knowing Tony, I can see he is on edge … and so he fucking should be. What the fuck actually happened back there?

It’s on, it’s not, that’s my boss, and for some unknown fucking reason he decided he wanted to be there, but then he decided to fuck off. He knew I’d have questions, but he just left. Well, fuck that!

The taxi stops and I pull out my phone, scrolling frantically, searching for his number.

Me: What the fuck was that? Did you know?

I wait for a reply but get nothing … total fucking silence.

Sliding across the seat, I get out and slam the taxi door behind me, striding toward the two men in front of me.

“What the fuck was the boss doing there, and why did he pull the plug?” I shout.

Tony looks over at me, narrowing his eyes and grinding his jaw. I know he wants to start shouting but doesn’t want to cause a scene.

Well, too fucking bad. I want answers, and if it isn’t from him, then I’ll get them from Nicolas.

“Now isn’t the time, Frankie,” he simply states.

“You have to be kidding me!” I shout and put my hands on my hips. “I almost killed a guy tonight but because the “boss man” changed his mind, I had to quickly change the plan last minute.” I glare at him. “What would he have done if I had killed him!” I ask.

“I have bigger problems right now. We can talk later,” he says, dismissing me. “You ready, Tommy?” He looks at the guy. So his name is Tommy. I wasalmostright.

They both head to the car and pull O’Connor from the trunk, handing the driver a big brown envelope.

I see red and can’t believe he is acting like this.

Looking at my phone, I see nothing from Nicolas and decide to call him.

“I don’t have time for this now,” he says as he answers his phone.

“You’re kidding me, right?” I spit back at him.

“Do I sound like I am?” His voice is serious.

“Did you know who I was?” I ask.

“I think you know I thought you were a fucking man,Frankie,” he says sarcastically. “I think it’s you who has questions to answer, but right now, I have things to do.”

He hangs up before I can respond, and I turn to see the guys taking O’Connor to a container around the side, then stopping when Tony gets a call.

He turns to face me, so it doesn’t take a fucking genius as to who is calling him.

I kick the gravel below my feet and head over to them as he returns his phone to his pocket.

He mumbles something to Tommy, and he nods back to him in agreement.

Great … a boy’s club.

We all head inside the container and tie O’Connor to the ropes hanging from the ceiling. They hang down to the floor but have some kinda pulling mechanism that will allow him to stand when he wakes.
