Dad was pale and kind of pukey looking. I probably looked just like him. I’d already puked up my egg sandwich since I got to the station.
“Give it a few minutes and we’ll get started.”
“Thanks.”
Molly left and Travis got a text from Olivia.
“I heard a customer say Miller was shot at the sheriff’s office. Is that true?”
“Tammy shot him in the leg when he tried to kill me.”
“No.”
“Yes. He’s in custody at Cut Bank Hospital.”
“Oh, my.”
“Don’t give a flying fuck about him. Hope he dies. Tammy was kidnapped last night and that’s my only thought.”
“I’m so sorry. I love you.”
“Same.”
After I texted that last word, I regretted it. The last thing I wanted to do was encourage Liv to love me.
The next call was from Wyatt Thompson at the Cut Bank Tribune wanting to meet for lunch.
“I heard about the manager of the credit union being shot in your office, Travis. Sounds like a great story.”
“No. Not so great, Wyatt. He came in waving a gun around and shouting out threats. He pointed it at me, and Tammy shot him in the knee and knocked him down. That was about all there was to that.”
“Do you have time to meet me around noon? I’d like to get all the details.”
“Today, I won’t have time for lunch. I have federal agents here in the office and I can’t take the time. Sorry.”
“Federal Agents? That’s a first, isn’t it?”
“First time, and I hope it’s the last.”
“Can I ask about the arrest in the murder case? I heard you had a suspect in custody.”
“I do have a guy locked up for the murders. You can print that, and you can also say the feds were called in by the County Supervisor prematurely. We already had the killer.”
“Okay, thanks, Travis.”
Travis ended the call and purposely said nothing to Wyatt about Tammy. At the moment, Tammy was the only case he gave a shit about.
One more call to make.
“Savanna.”
“Travis, what is it? I heard about Ravary getting shot in your office.”
“Somebody grabbed Tammy last night and I’m losing my mind.”
“What? Somebody who?”
“She was pissed at me, and she ran out of the Run last night and bingo, she was gone. We searched for her all night.”
