“Well, let me tell you, girl. Think of how exciting it would be if you should discover you feel like me. If you should discover this dream is for two…”

For what felt like forever I held her throat, feeling her heart slam against the palm of my hand as she stared up at me. Those pretty brown eyes kept me frozen in place. She didn’t have to worry about me going anywhere. As long as I could help it, I would be right there.

“You were singing that when I walked in,” was what she said when she finally spoke.

I chuckled. “Yeah.”

“What if we do this, Liam? How would it work?” she asked.

“However we want it to.” I shrugged.

“I know you have a life outside of me. I’m working on accepting that. Just know I won’t have any expectations, and we can’t tell anyone.”

I didn’t like the boundaries she set before we could even get used to the idea being on the table. Still, I wanted her so bad. We could work out the details later. I knew she was worried about her brothers finding out about us, so I couldn’t blame her for wanting to play it safe. At the same time, I didn’t give a damn about safe. I wanted to go all in. I was ready to risk it all. Instead of saying that, I nodded.

“OK.”

“So, do we do this now or?” she asked, widening her eyes expectantly. Her eagerness made my briefs tighten.

“Your little session didn’t satisfy you?” I asked in an attempt to lighten the mood.

“See?” she said, rolling her eyes.

“I’m just messing with you, doll face. Listen, I want to give you time to think about this before you make a decision.”

“I’m not a virgin, Liam.”

“That’s not what I’m saying. I just want you to be sure before we take that step. Like you said, we need to set some rules.”

“Liam, if you don’t want to have sex with me, just say that. I’m not that pressed.”

“I’m not saying that, Divine. I’m just saying that some doors are hard to close once you open them.”

“I get that, but as two consenting adults, I think we’ll manage,” she said, reaching out and touching her hand to my face.

“I want to give you time to think. I came to terms with my feelings a long time ago. It’s on you.”

“What if I’m ready now? I just told you how long it’s been. I know what I want, Liam,” she said, placing her hands on my chest and sliding them up to my neck.

I wanted to pick her up and throw her on the counter, but I knew I needed to pace myself.

“Slow down, Cookie. You know how long I been waiting and debating about this shit. I want you, but I want you to be absolutely sure about whatyouwant. I’m not gon’ just fuck your brains out on a whim.” Her breathing hitched at my words. A goofy smile spread across my face. I couldn’t even see myself, but I could tell that I was looking silly as hell. “Is that what my pretty girl likes?” Those gorgeous brown eyes widened, and she nodded her head slowly. “I need you to say it, love. Is that what you want?” I asked her.

“Yes,” she whispered.

“I want to make it special for you, but I can do both,” I said finally able to release my hold on her neck. Not that I wanted to take my hands off her.

“OK, so we’re doing this,” she said, nodding her head.

“Don’t say it like that.” I laughed.

“Don’t laugh, Liam. I’m excited.”

“Me too,” I confessed. “As a matter of fact, I’m a little too keyed up.”

“You want something to drink?”

“How about you pour yourself a glass of wine and meet me in the bedroom? I need to get my mind together a little bit.”
