I almost moan at the taste, but I stop myself.
"What time do you get off work?" Ashley bats her lashes.
I guess she's interested.
"Depends on what time you'll be done partying." He smirks.
"What about I party with you?"
Okay, that's it.
I take my purse and gulp down the remains of my wine.
"Have fun, you two," I yell, sliding off of the stool.
"Where are you going?" Ashley yells back, holding my hand.
"To dance. You two do your thing." I gesture between the both of them. I take a deep breath and head for the packed dance floor. People are dancing maniacally to the music, and I can already feel the slight tingles from the alcohol.
"Thought you could get rid of me?"
I startle before I turn to face a smiling Ashley.
"What are you doing here?"
She gives me a dumb look. "Oh, I’m just about to spread the gospel."
I roll my eyes. "What-ever happened to your hunk?"
"Hoes before holes, sweetheart," she screams, slapping my ass.
"Is that even a thing?" I laugh as she drags me farther.
The music gets even louder from our position, and the noisy bass vibrates in my ears, causing an unsteady rhythm around me. Electricity vibrates in my veins from both the alcohol and loud music. Ashley instantly starts singing out loud, and it doesn't take long before we're both singing along to ”I'm That Girl.”
My lungs constrict as I bellow the wordings of the song and sweat drips down my arms as I flail them around.
Ashley holds my hands, and the energy on the dance floor is contagious.
I can feel myself start to loosen up slowly. A waiter with a tray passes by, and Ashley and I snag two shots for ourselves.
"To a new life," I yell, holding the shot glass up.
"To the best fucking life!"
We clink our shot glasses and gulp the content.
"Fuck, I'm getting buzzed already."
The irony about Ashley is that she's still a lightweight even though she's a partygoer, and it baffles me. I'm feeling tingly but not buzzed; I want to keep dancing.
"How many drinks have you had tonight?" I yell at the top of my lungs.
I'll definitely have a cracked voice after tonight.
"I don't know. Four?"
I'm about to tell her we haven't been here for even two hours when a rap song comes up.
