He looks at me and purses his lips. “Dad got a tip that we had Espinosa. I suppose they didn’t think it was meant to be kept a secret. The men cheered and when he learned of it, he tucked his tail between his legs and ran.”
“Fucker.” I shake my head in wonder. “So, the fire?”
“I wonder what he was hiding in that house. What motherfucking secrets are in there?”
“I don’t know, but whatever they are, he obviously didn’t want us to find them, so he’d rather burn everything to the ground.”
“Fucking prick.” My head is spinning with this news. I don’t have time for this shit. By the time we pull up to the gates, five trucks are there putting out the blaze. My security are still at the gates, but they are open, which sets my teeth on edge. Jack also notes the problem.
“Do you think this is a setup?”
“I don’t know, but we’re going to watch the cameras from the time the blaze started until they leave and if anyone sneaks in, they’ll be fucking shot.”
“Has anyone passed through?”
“Not that we noticed, but there have been a few sketchy moments. We’ve been a bit preoccupied with the blaze and the emergency vehicles.”
“We understand. Watch the cameras and pay attention, because it could go south at any second.”
“I don’t give a fuck about the fire, Connor. I need to see my family.”
“Same here.”
We drove to his house and went inside. Immediately our women jump into our arms. “I missed you, too.”
“Shut up.” She slapped my chest.
“I was worried about an attack. Ian told me there was nothing to worry about, but it doesn’t mean that he wasn’t just placating me.”
“True,” Ian admits, smirking.
“Ladies, can you please play with John somewhere safe while we speak to Ian privately?”
“Is this about my father?”
“No. It’s not. Fuck, I completely forgot about him,” Jack says.
“Me too.” A lot has happened since I ran into that prick this morning. It’s so damn messed up that we each have a fucked-up parent.
“What the hell is going on? You two are acting weird.”
“Dad set the house on fire, and he fled.”
“What do you fucking mean?”
“He’s the one who orchestrated John’s kidnapping, and he planned to have him killed. If it wasn’t for the nanny, they would have executed him.”
“I’ll destroy him.” Ian flexes his fists, clenching them tightly while he grinds his teeth. I know he’s about ready for war, which is why I didn’t mention the situation in front of the women. He could lose his shit and smash something and startle them.
“We need to get rid of the police and firefighters, but why don’t we just track the fuck?”
“Good idea, Connor.” My brother pulls up an app and runs the tracker on the car our father took. It’s traced to only two miles outside the damn estate.
“We need to approach this vehicle cautiously, if there is even a vehicle there. He could have found the tracker and tossed it.” They nod, and then we leave his office and find the women sitting around the living room with John, playing with his toys. “We need to speak with the fire department and then the police.”
“I’m going to head out and check the car, okay?” Ian offers.
“Please do, but be careful because I don’t trust our father, especially when it comes to you. He wouldn’t waste an opportunity to take you out,” Jack says.
