I snap my head away, almost knocking myself out on the medicine cabinet above the sink, and scramble towards the door.
‘All fixed. Taadaa. No hospital trip needed. You’re fine. I’m fine. Everyone’s fine.’
And with that, I flee from the room, stubbing my toe on the door frame and swearing like a sailor all the way back to the bedroom.
CHAPTER FOUR
Noah
Wow.
That’s it, that’s all I’ve got.
My brain is working double time to register the extraordinary sequence of events that have just occurred. I didn’t think I’d ever see Honey again, let alone stark fucking naked and performing martial arts in the oddest display of self-defence that I have ever seen.
I didn’t pay much attention to her the day Reid and I graduated. Sure, I noticed how pretty she was, but I was too busy throwing my mortar board in the air to actually engage her in conversation. She was just my best friend's younger sister. And she was eighteen and shy and mousey, and she looked a hell of a lot different than what she looks like today.
But there’s absolutely nothing mousey about her now. Nope. The last seven years has turned her into a chaotic, slightly eccentric, whirlwind of a lioness. I mean, she’s only just over five feet tall and she knocked me clean on my ass.
The woman’s a badass.
And,fuck me.It’ll be a long time before I get the image of her naked out of my mind.
If ever.
But the reason as to why she is here, and naked, and using the shower, is unknown to me. The person who will know, however, is the nitwit who has lent me this apartment.
Reid picks up on the third ring.
‘Dude, your sister’s here.’
‘Honey?’
‘No,’ I roll my eyes, ‘your other sister.’
‘I don’t have another sister.’
‘Exactly, so why ask if it’s Honey? Obviously, it’s Honey.’
Pause.
‘All you had to do was say yes, man.’
‘Why is she here?’I know I haven’t even asked the guy how he is yet and that I’m being a bit of a diva, but this situation is a major inconvenience. It’s not that I don’t like her being here, I don’t know her enough to know if I like her company or not, but as a rule, I don’t likeanyone’scompany. I’m just one of those people who is more comfortable being alone.
‘Her landlord kicked her out and she didn’t want to go live with our parents, so I gave her the same deal I gave you.’
‘What?’
‘Yeah. You’re not bothered, right?’
Is he serious? Of course, I’m fucking bothered. If I wanted a roommate, I’d have moved into shared accommodation and saved us all the hassle. But, for the last time,I like being on my own.
‘Dude, there’s only one bed.’
‘So? There’s a couch.’
Fucking hell.
