Fuck. Now all he could think about was watching her pleasure herself. He could picture it so clearly. Her head would be thrown back, a beautiful rosy flush suffusing her cheeks. Her mouth would be open in a silent moan. She’d have one hand on her tit, rolling a nipple. The other hand would be between her legs, wet from her juices as she worked herself to the peak. Then she’d cry out his name as she tumbled over the edge. “Shit, Emma. Now I have to go into my next interview with a hard-on.”

An uncontrollable giggle blasted his ear. “Sorry.”

“No, you’re not.”

“No, really, I am. There is nothing worse than an unrequited hard-on.”

A laugh rumbled through his chest, loosening up more of his stress and anxiety. “Thank you, Emma. I needed this.”

“Anytime,” she answered, her voice soft and gentle. And he knew she absolutely meant that. If he needed her, she’d be there for him. Anytime. Anywhere. He wondered how he’d ever lived without her in his life.

His name was being called; they were ready for his next interview. “I gotta go. They are calling for me.”

“Okay. Miss you.”

“Miss you too.”

“See you soon.”

“See you soon.”

They never said goodbye; that sounded too final. It was alwayssee you soon. Because he would see her again as soon as he could get away, and in a few months, the madness of this movie would be over, and he could take a well-deserved break. A break he planned to spend loving Emma.

Chapter twenty-one

MarcuswatchedEmmaclimbfor a moment before announcing his presence. It had been six months since Emma had discovered Colleen’s duplicity and two months since he’d last seen Emma, having been busy with the press tour for the last Titan movie. He was looking forward to a little alone time with Emma in the picturesque Upper Peninsula before he had to go back to Hollywood for the premiere.

It was a beautiful spring day. Two years since his accident, and he’d come full circle. So much had changed for him in those two years. The loneliness he’d felt then was a thing of the past now, and it was mostly due to the woman above him. He may have endured another betrayal, but he’d gained so much more. The Nighthawks had given him a deeper understanding of friendship, of family. And Emma . . . She’d given him everything.

Things had been going well with them. Without Colleen’s interference, he’d been able to keep his relationship with Emma under wraps, protecting her from the vultures. Even though the press tour had kept him busy, he was still able to pop in occasionally to see her. And she’d been there for him through everything. Her encouraging texts and phone calls while they were apart had been just what he’d needed to get through the past six months.

The wildflowers surrounding him put on a spectacular show, and so was Emma as she scaled this section of Silver Mountain. He always loved watching her climb. Her own intimate dance with the rock was a scene to behold. Every move calculated to press her endurance. She pushed herself harder and faster each time, muscles straining. She was pure grace and strength. And he’d missed her terribly.

“Hey, my fierce warrior!” he called out to her. “Come down here and give me a kiss!” She looked down at him and squealed her delight. Since she was bouldering without ropes, she had to carefully climb the twenty or so feet down to reach him, which she did in no time. Upon reaching the ground, she threw herself into his arms. He kissed her with two months’ worth of pent-up desire.

“You’re here,” she exclaimed. “But how?”

“Graham told me where to find you, and Finch flew me up.” Marcus, of course, had paid them handsomely for their time and fuel. Finch would have done it for nothing, but he had insisted.

“Well, then. I owe those guys a beer,” she joked. “How was your tour?”

“Hell . . . without you,” he replied, running his fingers across her cheek. “I’ve missed you like crazy.”

“I’ve missed you too. How long can you stay this time?”

“A few weeks. I have to be back for the premiere before the Fourth of July.” He was hoping to take Emma with him, but he’d broach that subject later. Right now, he simply wanted to drink her in, lose himself in her dark eyes.

“So, I have you all to myself for the next few weeks?”

“Absolutely,” he answered. He loved the look of joy that came over her features. He always wanted to see her as happy as she was at this very moment. “I have something for you.”

“Really?” she asked, suggestively rubbing herself against him.

“Not that,” he laughed. “At least not right now.” He reached into his pocket and pulled out a gold chain. Threaded through it were three rings?two wedding bands and a diamond engagement ring.

She gasped. “How in the world?” She reached out to finger the rings, clearly in awe that she was looking at her parents’ wedding rings again. They had been one of the few items that had been stolen in the destruction Colleen wrought on her apartment.

“The private investigator I hired months ago tracked her to a pawn shop where he found these.”
