I frowned when I found something on the dresser. Walking over to it, I reached out and grabbed the small black card in my hand.

It had my name on it.

And I was sure there was more money on this credit card than what most people make in their lifetime. I should probably resent all the money that they have and how giving me money was just another reminder that I needed them. I didn’t.

I didn’t even feel guilty for accepting this so quickly. It would make things easier for me, and I had already decided not to run anymore.

I put the card back and sat down on my bed, taking off my shoes and pulling my knees up to my chest.

Two down, only one left to go. Admittedly, Killian was the one I was most nervous about seeing again. He was unpredictable on a good day. I didn’t know how he would be after more than a week of me disappearing, and a part of me worried if he would even be anything, as if my absence hadn’t really affected him at all.

I blinked. I didn’t know how I would react if that was the case.

I closed my eyes and brought my fingers up to my lips, thinking about the kiss.

My lips still tingled, and all I could think of was that there was a small part of me that wished Silas had just given in to the urge and abducted me again.

I wouldn’t have to think about anything or decide anything if that were the case.

KILLIAN

I pickedthe lock to her room.

Wasn’t this familiar?

Soon, I wouldn’t need to pick the lock. I would have the key. And soon after, it wouldn’t fucking matter because I was taking her back to the Tiernan mansion, and there would be no locked doors for her from then on.

She had kissed her privacy goodbye when she decided to run away from us, from me.

The man behind me shifted a little, reminding me I wasn’t alone.

I took in a deep breath, trying to keep from losing control. I had invited the man over, so I couldn’t exactly kill him for what he was about to do, about to see, about totouch.

My fists clenched.

I didn’t bother to be quiet when I pushed the door open. The drug I had given her by crushing the pill into her glass of water would ensure she slept through the night. Slept through what was about to happen.

Frederick followed behind me. I pointed to the dresser, indicating where he could put his bag while I took in the smallgirl in the middle of the queen-sized bed, the covers thrown over her.

I let my hand run through the soft strands of her hair before trailing my fingers down to the soft, delicate skin of her cheek.

Movement caught my attention, and I scowled at Frederick when I noticed him looking at Mila longer than he should have.

The man was smart enough to turn away.

I let out a sigh. I was feeling too fucking volatile. Perhaps I should have Maverick or Silas in here with us to make sure I didn’t do something stupid like kill a loyal man simply for looking at my girl.

“Let’s just get this started,” I said.

Frederick unzipped his bag and started pulling out his things. I didn’t bother looking at him. I moved to the foot of the bed and pulled the blanket up slightly until her feet peeked out. I grabbed a foot with my hands, taking in the size of them. She wiggled her toes slightly, and I resisted the urge to smile in front of Frederick.

Fuck, but she was cute.

Every-fucking-thing she did was cute.

I shook my head, gently placed her foot back down on the mattress, and reached into my pocket for the small gold chain.
