“Club’s opening?”
Silas nodded, pressing his thumb on my bottom lip. I resisted the urge to bite him. “Yes, we’re having a soft opening Saturday. It was supposed to be open two weeks before, but shit happened.”
Meaning me. My running away had probably put a pause on a lot of their businesses. I should feel guilty about that, but I was feeling pretty high. I was important enough that they would put a pause on everything to find me.
I smiled at him, and he playfully narrowed his eyes at me. “So what do you say, angel? Be my date? Gotta ask you first before the other two fuckers get to you.”
I laughed, shaking my head. “Well, since you begged so nicely.Fine.”
He leaned down and nipped at the skin on my neck. “Brat. Now open your present.”
My smile widened as he pulled away from me. I thought he might be a little more excited about giving me something than I was about receiving it. I looked back down at the box. It was simple and white.
It looked pretty against the floral fabric of the dress I was wearing. I carefully opened it and saw what had to be the prettiest little pastries. It looked like a puff pastry, with strawberries and blueberries adorned on top of the cream.
“How cute,” I said, smiling a little.
“Yes, you fucking are,” Silas said, sitting down next to me and making a show of eating out my neck. I giggled and tried to move away when his stubble tickled me. He wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me close, settling his warm, heavy palm on my stomach with one hand and taking the dessert and placing it on the end table nearby with the other hand.
“How are you feeling?”
“Good,” I said shyly.
He kissed my cheek. “And how is our little bean?”
“Little bean?” I asked, amused.
He nodded. “I’m guessing that’s how big our little baby is right now.”
I nodded and looked down at his hand on my still-flat stomach. It was still too early for me to show. “The baby is fine.”
My voice was soft when I said it, and Silas pulled back, his eyes taking in my face as if he thought he could read my thoughts that way.
He probably could.
At this point, I didn’t think there was anyone who knew me as well as the brothers did.
And I was okay with that. More than okay.
For the first time in my life, it didn’t feel like I was carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders.
“I made a doctor’s appointment for you in a couple of days.”
I looked away from him briefly. “How did you know I was pregnant?” I asked. It came as a surprise that Silas had actually guessed it when I knew I hadn’t given any hints about it.
He smiled. “Baby, you are my favorite subject. Since the first moment I saw you, I have been studying. Everything about you, every little facial expression that might offer me even just a small glimpse inside your head… everything. You have been acting strange since the moment we found you at the motel.” Hemoved his hand up until he was cupping my breast, fondling it a bit before playing with my nipple. The thin fabric of my dress did nothing to protect me from his rough touches. It didn’t help that I wasn’t wearing a bra. My breath caught as I looked him directly in the eye. “And these have gotten bigger. Fuck me, but your tits before were magnificent. World-changing…” I giggled at his words, feeling like a silly schoolgirl with a crush. “But to see these changes because of the baby growing inside you? Fuck me, but I could probably spend eternity worshipping them, and still, it wouldn’t feel like enough.”
“Silas…”
He pinched my nipple, and I rubbed my legs together to relieve some of the ache.
He shot me a knowing look, his honey-brown eyes glinting mischievously. “And you know Maverick and Killian would have noticed too, had they not been so caught up in finding you and keeping you?”
“And you weren’t?” I asked.
He shook his head a little. “I knew we were going to find you and keep you, no matter what.”
“How did you know?”
