I could see him walking into the room from the corner of my eye. I pretended not to notice.
“Pregnant,” Maverick repeated. “Get the doctor. And let him know the drug you used on her. And tell him about the tattoo.”
Killian blanched over Maverick’s words and, without responding, walked out of there.
I turned to Maverick. “I’m fine, and the baby’s fine.”
“You don’t know that.”
I shook my head. “I would have felt it if something happened to the baby.”
“Don’t argue with me,” Maverick said harshly.
I let out a sigh. There was obviously no getting out of this. I might as well just let them fuss. Although Silas seemed to be taking this well. I looked at him, and he winked at me, making my heart flutter. I ignored his reaction and frowned at him. Heshook his head but didn’t say anything. Huh. I thought I would get a stronger response from him.
Unless…
I looked away from him.
Killian came back to the room moments later. “He’ll be here in fifteen minutes.”
Then he climbed onto the bed and pulled me onto his lap, his hand covering my stomach.
“Killian?” I asked.
He didn’t answer.
Did I break him?
Welp… this sucked.
Fifteen minutes later,Silas finally got a notification on his phone that the doctor had arrived. I nearly let out a sigh of relief. Silas looked at me for a beat before he left to let the doctor in.
Maverick was being possessive and wouldn’t let me move away from his side while Killian was pacing back and forth. I wouldn’t be surprised if he left holes in the carpet by the end of the night. The only one who acted normal was Silas, but he was gone, leaving me to deal with two men who took up so much energy from the room, I didn’t know what to do with myself.
Movement from the open doorway caught my attention, and I turned toward it to see Silas walk in first, followed by a man I assumed was Dr. Lee. It took everything in me not to show my reaction on my face, but he was… like nothing I had expected.
For one thing, I had pictured an old man with bushy white eyebrows and equally white, unkempt hair.
Dr. Lee was young. Like maybe around Silas’ age or one or two years older. He was Caucasian, with skin only one shadeor two darker than mine, curly blond hair, gray eyes, and very attractive.
Had I not been completely, hopelessly, helplesslyin love with the Tiernan brothers, I might have turned stupid at the sight of him.
Dr. Lee looked at me briefly before directing his attention to Maverick, who was shirtless, his bare torso on display. “Do you need me to look at you? It looks like Killian already did a good job bandaging you up.”
Maverick shook his head. “Not me.Her.”
Again, the doctor barely met my eyes. It was almost as if he knew how possessive my men were. I actually didn’t doubt that. And I was getting tired of everyone speaking around me.
“Where is she hurt?” Dr. Lee asked.
“Not hurt,” Killian said, stepping forward. “Pregnant.”
Dr. Lee frowned, turning to Silas before he said, “Yes, I know. I have been conversing with Silas about her care.”
I blinked, not sure if I heard him right.
Beside me, Maverick tensed.
