“Just like that?” I might not know much about men, but didn’t they haveexpectationswhen it came to these things?

“Just like that.”

Call me crazy, but I believed him.

If they wanted to harm me, they would have already. Especially that day when Silas locked me in his room. But they had been sweet, and Silas was the one to save me from Lenny, who was now stuck in prison.

“Okay,” I breathed, feeling the word all the way down to my clit, beating to its own kind of rhythm. Hell.

Maverick’s smile grew, and he reached past me to open the door. My heart pounded wildly in my chest, as if it wanted to fly and not be contained, while Maverick gently ushered me into the dark room.

“Where are your brothers?”

Silas had told me he had to go on a little business trip for Maverick, but what of Killian? How awkward would it be if we ran into him? Especially after that kiss.

“Didn’t Silas tell you?” he asked, turning on the light and closing the door behind me. I bit the inside of my cheek to keep from reacting so strongly. I was nervous.

Nervous and excited.

“What about Killian?” I asked.

“He’s out as well,” Maverick answered.

“So it’s just us.”

Maverick turned and looked at me. I resisted the urge to squirm. “It’s just us.”

I watched as he casually went to the small makeshift kitchen and took out two glasses and a bottle of scotch.

He indicated the bottle.

I shook my head. “I don’t drink much.”

Or at all. I wasn’t a big drinker. Watching so many of the patch members of my dad’s club be controlled by alcohol and drugs had steered me away from it.

Although none of the men had ever looked so… sophisticated and in control as Maverick did, holding the bottle. I doubted he would ever let anything or anyone control him.

“Is that so?” he commented, pouring himself a generous amount and walking over to me. The glass caught the light, shimmering in his hand like gold as he stopped close to me. I looked down at our feet.

Was it wrong to love the size difference between us?

I should be wary of men—huge men in particular—and while I was wary of Maverick and his brothers, I didn’t want to get as far away from them as possible. Just the opposite.

His fingers hooked under my chin, lifting until I looked back up at him, his expression unreadable.

He pressed the cool glass against my lips. “Open, little monster.”

I opened my mouth without a thought and his eyes darkened. He tipped the glass back and fed me a small sip of the alcohol.

It burned flowing down my throat, and my eyes watered.

He took his own sip, keeping his eyes on me the entire time.

Why was that so sexy?

Once he was done, he leaned down until his lips touched my ear and said, “Go to my room.”

My breath hitched. He smirked, turning me around and pointing at the closed door.
