“Stop it,” I said, but I was grinning. How contradictory.

He laughed harder and splashed me again.

I had a feeling Gabriel enjoyed teasing me.

I swiped the water off my face, and before he could splash me, I did it to him.

My splash was pathetic compared to his.

I pouted, and he laughed at me, splashing me again.

We stayed in the water for a long time, playing.

I couldn’t even remember the last time I had laughed so hard.

Gabriel had a devilish look in his eyes as he sank into the pool water. Mine widened as I caught on to his game. I didn’t bother trying to look for him.

I was being hunted.

I quickly swam to the edge, trying to get away from him, my heart pounding the whole time.

I was about to reach over and haul myself up when arms wrapped around my waist, and he emerged.

I half screamed, half laughed, as he trapped me against the edge.

I pushed his chest, but he only gave me a carefree smile.

“Got you,” he said.

“A-and now that you have me, what are you going to do with me?”

“What else? I am going to keep you. Forever.”

For the first time, his possessive words didn’t scare me as much as they should.

“Yeah?” I asked softly.

“Yeah,” he confirmed. No hesitation.

I wished I had his confidence.

I wrapped my arms around his neck.

He held still, letting me do whatever I wanted with him.

How powerful that made me feel.

“Gabriel,” I said softly.

His eyes closed, almost as if he was in pain. “Fuck, do you know what it does to me when you say my name?”

Probably the same thing it did to me whenever he called me those pet names in Spanish.

Addicted.

Vulnerable.

Belonging…
