“You’re so fucking beautiful, Jamie,” he said. “I love you.”
Tears pricked my eyelids and I slammed them shut, clutching onto him as a glowing sensation blossomed. I didn’t want to lose it. I wanted to catch it and let it wash over me. I moaned as it hit, the orgasm tearing through me and sinking into my bones, rattling my very core. I clenched and Cody did too, cursing low against the pillows and my hair.
When it was over, I found myself wrapped up in his arms. I cuddled close, pressing a chaste kiss against his pectoral. It wasn’t long before a knock sounded on the front door of the suite.
“And that’ll be the room service,” Cody said with a chuckle. He kissed my forehead and got out of the bed. “I’ll be right back.”
I nodded, watching him go, wondering what was going to happen to us in the future. Would the guys all go their separate ways when we graduated? Would we stick together? Would we come out to their families?
Cody came ambling back—having dressed to answer the door—in his boxers and jeans with a tray of food. I smiled, leaning up and pulling the sheet up so that it wrapped around my body. Still, though, the thoughts pervaded my mind.
Chapter 9
“My brother liked you,” Dex said at breakfast the next morning. I was buttering my toast as Darren reached across the center of the table to snag a banana from the fruit bowl. All around us, other groups ate and conversed under the warm sunshine.
I smiled at Dex. “He did?” It was a small victory, but it was a victory nonetheless.
Dex nodded as Cody and Taylor approached the table, each holding a plate full of waffles and eggs in their hands. I licked my lips when I spotted several slices of bacon on Taylor’s plate. As he sat down, I reached forward and snagged two—shoving them in my mouth before he could try to snatch them back.
“Thief!” he said, half-shocked. I grinned, keeping my lips closed as I chewed and swallowed.
Dex smirked at the two of us before he turned back to me and reached forward, placing a warm, wide palm on my thigh. “I told him we were going to the mainland when we stop off in port, and he asked if he could come, are you okay with that?”
I paused, realizing something at his question. “We never had a family meeting last night,” I said.
Dex’s gaze darkened and he pulled his hand away, shoving his fingers through his hair roughly as he cursed under his breath and shot the others a look. “Shit,” he said, “you’re right. I’m sorry, guys.”
Darren shrugged as Taylor stuffed his mouth and Cody reached for his coffee. “Why don’t we just have it here and now?” Taylor suggested.
I bit my lip and glanced around. We were still in public, but no one else was nearby or paying us any attention. “Is that okay?” I asked.
“If you guys are okay with it, then I am,” Darren said, finishing off his banana and tossing the peel onto his now empty plate.
Everyone nodded their assent and I leaned in closer to the table. “Okay, so…” I began, drifting off as I turned my gaze to Dex expectantly.
“My mother is difficult to get along with,” Dex admitted openly.
Darren grunted. “We noticed.”
Dex didn’t even bother to defend her as he nodded. “I say we just keep up the façade as much as possible, stay on the down-low with the relationship—at least for now.”
“Does that mean we can’t kiss or hold hands in public?” Taylor piped up.
Dex grimaced. “Discreetly would be preferred, but I’d never ask you to stop showing your affections for Jamie.”
I smiled as he turned his gaze on me. “Is that okay with you?” he asked.
I nodded and leaned into him. “I think I can handle being discreet,” I paused, “in public, of course.”
“Of course,” he agreed, and pressed a quick kiss to my lips, leaving me grinning.
“Well, now that family drama is taken care of and you’ve completely ruined my morning buzz, what are we doing today?” Darren asked.
“Buzz?” I looked towards his drink. “Is that even alcohol? It looks like milk.”
Darren grinned and then winked. “White Russian,” he replied.
I groaned but couldn’t even pretend I didn’t want one myself. “Can I try it?” I asked.
