HONEYMOON
Istretched out on the leather airplane seat, propping my feet and legs on the table between where we sat and the couch across from us.
Since Brick was paying, we invited everyone.
And I do mean everyone.
We told the pilots to fly us to Santa Fe, New Mexico first.
Black called ahead, and when we pulled up to the airport, we filled up that damned plane with every single person, human and seer, we could pry out of that resort.
We had the pilot take us to San Francisco next.
At SFO, we picked up pretty much everyone else.
Nick even convinced Hiroto and Yumi to come with us.
I had to give his parents credit. After everything they’d dealt with for the past twenty-four hours, not to mention everything they’d dealt with over the last however-many days and weeks and years, I was stunned they would goanywherewith me and Black, even with Nick coming along. Even with Dalejem there, who they obviously adored already.
But they had come, and after we told them the story, Yumi vowed to order the most expensive thing on the menu for every single meal she ate.
I gave her a high five.
Then Angel and I solemnly vowed to do the same with her.
Black slumped into the chair next to me.
Across from us, Angel and Cowboy were stretched out over the couch.
Both of them looked even more tired than I felt.
I’d taken a shower in the airplane’s full-service bathroom while everyone got packed and boarded. I didn’t have much to wear, but Angel lent me some shorts and a tank top, so I put on those and a pair of flip flops she bought me in the airport.
It looked like I might be buying a brand new vacation wardrobe on Brick’s tab as well, once we landed in Fiji. Angel, Kiko, Mika, and Yumi had already offered to help me pick it out. I was pretty sure we were going to have extremely expensive taste.
Brick would be damned lucky if we kept this “vacation” below seven figures.
After the shower, and the change of clothes, I couldn’t believe how much better I felt.
I felt almost human again.
“Seer,” Black grumbled from next to me. “You feel almostseeragain. Are you ever going to get that right? It’s only been… what? Six years now? Seven?”
I elbowed him, and he elbowed me back.
When I glanced over at Angel, she gave me a tired smile.
Cowboy’s head was already pillowed in her lap.
From the expression on his face, I doubted he’d be awake for more than a few minutes after the plane took off.
“Speaking of which…” Black muttered.
He touched his headset.
“…Is that everyone?” he asked the person on the other end. “You have all these crazies on board yet? Or are we still waiting on someone?”
He listened to whatever they said and nodded.
