Walking across the asphalt, I walk through the entrance. Grabbing a small cart, we head towards the shoes. Blake keeps her head down, hood up, and each time someone glances at us she tightens her grip around my throat and waist. Pointing to the left, I glance over, seeing a couple of men staring while their girlfriends, from the looks of it, browse around.

“Talking about them staring at you?” I ask.

Blake shakes her head, tapping my chest with one hand before placing it around my neck again.

“Sunshine they’re not staring at me, they’re staring at you.” I chuckle, turning towards the shoes. Blake shakes her head against my back as if she doesn’t believe me.

“It’s true, I got a pretty girl on my back and they’re staring at you.”

I might not be able to see her, but I can feel the eye roll. One thing I learned about Blake in these short twenty-four hours is that she has a lot of attitude wrapped in a tiny person. She might not talk but she sure does say a lot.

Finding the women’s shoes, I bend down, letting Blake slide down.Don’t think about it, don’t think. If I can think about anything other than the way her tits feel against my back, it needs to be now. I cannot start sporting a fucking hard-on in the middle of the store.

“Pick any pair,” I mumble, turning my body to the side. Tipping my head up, I take a deep breath. I don’t need to get distracted when I need to get her out of here and figure out how they found us.

Blake finally picks a pair, tearing the tag off and sliding her feet into them. I don’t say anything, a little too nervous that if I open my mouth, I’ll say something I’d regret. Instead, I lead her towards the clothing section, picking up a pair of jeans and a long sleeve. Stopping near the changing room, I glance around, not seeing many people.

“Blake,” I call, gaining her attention. “Would you be more comfortable staying here while I change or stepping in the room with me?”

Blake bites her bottom lip, drawing my eyes down to them. I wondered what they felt like, what she tasted like. Her eyes hold mine, unspoken words that she’ll never speak. A coolness hidden beneath her, begging to trust me. But she’s been burned before.

Pointing to the stall next to the one I was going to go into, she nods her head towards it.

“You’ll stay in there?” I ask.

She nods her head.

“Lock the door,” I order.

And she nods. I wait for her to go inside, and the click of the lock. Once I know she’s well, I make quick work of changing into the new clothes. Tossing my dirty clothes into the corner, I step out, glancing around making sure no one was around. Knocking on the door I tell her, “It’s me. Let’s get going.”

Blake peeks out, before widening the door. It doesn’t pass me that she also searches around, waiting for the threat to come out.

Passing around a group of teenagers, I bump into one of the guys. “Oh shit, I’m so sorry,” I apologize.

“Watch it,” he hisses.

Blake frowns at me as I rush her out of the store and back into the parking lot. Briefly looking over the vehicles, I find another older truck. Pointing to it, Blake and I make our way there. Doing the same as I did with the car, I hotwire it. Once we’re settled in, I pull the phone from the teenager out of my pocket.

“I… pickpocketed it.” I chuckle. Blake scowls at me, shaking her head. “I hate to ask this, but do you know your father’s number?” I cringe. I should’ve tried to memorize his number but didn’t think we’d be attacked. Not this soon that is.

Blake holds her hand out. Placing the phone in her hand, she dials his number letting it ring.

“Kto eto,” he answers.

“I’m a little rusty in my Russian so you might want to repeat that in English.” Rolling my eyes, I don’t look at Blake. I can feel her wanting to laugh at me and I don’t feel like embarrassing myself even more.

“I imagine this is your message that you’ve made it?” he grunts.

“No,” I blurt out.

“Ja—”

“We were attacked an hour ago in a motel we stopped at. I’m not sure how we were found unless they were trailing us. No one knows about me, right?”

“Just the close circle,” he answers, his voice becoming worrisome.

“Close circle as in who?”
