And now he’s here, wrapped around me, trapping me with no intention of letting go.
I shift, trying to wiggle free. His grip tightens.
“Don’t even think about it,” he rasps, his voice thick with sleep.
“You’re awake.”
“I’ve been awake.” He nuzzles into my hair, inhaling like a man memorizing his favorite scent. “I like watching my wife sleep.”
Heat creeps into my cheeks. “You’re creepy.”
He grins against my skin. “You married me, sweetheart.”
I sigh, torn between shoving him off and melting into him.
Unfortunately, the second option is dangerously easy.
“You sore?” he murmurs. His voice is smug, but there’s a hint of concern beneath it. Like maybe he thinks he went too far. Even though we both know I was just as wild as he was.
I roll onto my back, glaring up at him. “You’re enjoying this.”
He props himself up on an elbow, giving me that lazy, cocky smirk I love. “That’s not an answer.”
Before I can respond, a loud knock rattles the door. “Rise and shine, newlyweds!” Gram’s voice sings from the hallway. “I’ve got a surprise for you two!”
Connor groans, flopping onto his back and dragging me with him. I land sprawled across his chest as he rubs a hand down his face. “Jesus Christ, does she ever sleep?”
I laugh, burying my face against his shoulder. “Not when there’s mischief to be had.”
“Better get dressed before she breaks the door down.”
He makes no move to let me go.
Instead, his hands slide to my ass and squeeze. “Or don’t. I can think of better ways to start the day.”
I smack his chest, giggling. “Connor.”
Another knock. “I hear voices! Open up, lovebirds!”
I groan, shoving at him until he finally—reluctantly—lets me up.
“You better be on your best behavior.”
He smirks. “Baby, when am I not?”
I sigh, slipping on a robe before heading to the door.
The second I open it, Gram beams up at me, eyes twinkling with unholy delight. “Hope you two had fun last night,” she says, winking. “Because you’ve got one hell of a day ahead of you.”
I narrow my eyes. “Why do I feel like I’m about to regret this?”
Gram claps her hands together. “Because you are, sweetheart. Now hurry up and get dressed. We’ve got places to go.”
Behind me, Connor stretches out on the bed, completely unbothered. “Hope it’s a short trip, Gram. We’ve got a honeymoon to enjoy.”
Gram winks. “Oh, don’t worry, dear. This is way better than a honeymoon.”
“I doubt it,” Connor mutters.
