Page 15 of Unspoken Truths

My friends and I don’t keep many secrets from each other, but this is one I’ll keep till my grave. It may be silly, however my addiction to being the best can be embarrassing at times.

My parents throw the indoor pool in my face whenever I lose a meet, which thankfully is rare. Calvin is forced to come to every one of them and give them updates, which I know he hates. Mostly, because of how cutting their comments are even if I win.

Blowing out a breath, I think about high protein things I can eat at the cafe. Everything is state of the art here, including our food. Moving toward the cafe, I follow the students who are starving. There are two lunch periods because of the size of the school. With my luck, I’ll still miss the little mouse.

Though, she didn’t fight like a mouse. Rachelle fought like a hellion, and I’m struggling not to think about it because my speedo isn’t erection friendly.

Ugh, fuck me. I’ll have to jerk off before practice.

“You’re thinking about her, aren’t you?” Nacio says under his breath as we walk to our assigned table at the front. All the tables have white table cloths, and no one brings their own food here.

If you have special dietary restrictions, then you take it up with the school and they pass it on to the head chef. There’s a reason Michelin chefs spend a year here before moving on to other ventures.

It looks really good on their resume.

This isn’t just any school, it’stheschool for the Portland area. We’ve all been attending this school since elementary grade levels. There are simply different dining rooms for each section, along with different parts of the school where they attend classes.

This school is set up like a giant campus, most of which is inside. If it snows, there are underground tunnels to get to classes so you don’t have to go outside.

This place is incredible.

Sitting down, I nod at the waiter as he hurries over. The Carlysle Kings don’t wait.

“Can I get grilled salmon please with fresh fruit?” I ask him. “Remind the chef I’m a swimmer for the proper measurements of food please.”

“Yes, sir,” he murmurs. Nacio orders steak and potatoes like an asshole, making me curl my lip at him in annoyance.

It’s difficult to stay annoyed at him, though. We all have our preferences for how we achieve excellence.

“Is that her now?” he asks, glancing over as Liliana and Rachelle walk to a table.

Since she’s new, they’ll simply place her with whoever she walks in with. It’s why it’s important to set up allies quickly at this school, if you find yourself having a falling out, you’re stuck with them for the rest of school.

Elijah, Ignacio, Theo, and I have been having lunch together since kindergarten.

My eyes follow where he's looking, only half paying attention to the waiter filling our glasses with water. Rachelle’s hair is down today, wavy and gorgeous as she walks with her head held high. My lips purse, though, when I see her fingers are linked with Liliana’s.

“Does that mean anything?” I ask. “Liliana’s always been a flirt, but she looks very chummy with the new girl.”

“Yeah, she does,” Nacio growls as Theo and Elijah join us. Our table is a long rectangle, facing out toward the other tables. We can see everything, even as we are technically on display.

It’s the way of the Kings.

“What’s going on?” Theo asks softly, despite the chatter around us.

“Our little mouse may have a girlfriend,” I answer.

“I still plan to have her gagging on my cock,” he says, unaffected. “I have a feeling she’ll like it too.”

Theo is quiet, studious, but his streak of depravity runs just as deep as mine. The four of us enjoy men as well as women, it just depends on what the flavor of our darkness wants. Why limit yourself?

“Theo is right, it just makes me want her more,” Elijah rasps. “That’s a bad fucking move on her part.”

“Does anyone have any idea how she’s been disappearing all day?” I ask.

“The passageways?” Theo asks in response. “The issue is that there are so many, she could be taking any combination of them to get to her classes.”

“Clever little mouse,” I mutter.
