“There’s no better use of my time than this.” He hugged her a little closer and rested his chin on top of her head.
She leaned into him and sipped her tea, her gaze fixed on the sunset beyond the crenellation. “Nor mine.” A long, pleasant pause followed. “Even if the world ends tomorrow, tonight, or in the next five minutes, it’s worth it to be here with you.”
“You mean Puck was right?” He grinned.
She shook her head. “I don’t appreciate how he went about it, but… if past Idalno had known what I know now, she would have gone through happily. A few days ago, I felt like I was losing my life. Like I had nothing left. And now—now I have everything.”
“I feel the same. If I had known, I would have gone in search of this place or in search of your world just to be with you sooner.” He traced a line up her neck and then cupped his hand beneath her chin. Gently he guided her lips to his. “I love you, ma vigne. More than life and breath.”
Her smile spread broader as she returned the kiss, her lips soft and warm. “And I love you, Kopo. There will never be another for me.” She nestled closer and pressed her cheek to his shoulder as he stroked her hair.
No matter how good the feeling of the Hunt, no matter how thrilling the fight, this was where he belonged. With Idalno. Forever with Idalno. And it was because of her that he would never be truly alone again. So long as he was with her, he was home.
