The truth is that I don’t even have an answer for that. Not one that would please him, so I won’t even bother trying.

“This wasn't something I had planned with you. My intention was to sell my virginity and get enough money to leave the country. I hoped if I got far enough away, they wouldn’t find me. When you pushed me against the lockers tonight, I thought my time was up. And then, when your friend grabbed me, I was sure he was with them.”

He shakes his head. “No, baby girl. He’s a good guy.”

I giggle. “He doesn’t look like a good guy.”

With a laugh, he says, “Okay, he’s not a good guy. He’s a good, bad guy. He is a great friend and a business partner. You’re mine, so he will protect you the same as if you were his. Trust me, Kierra, when we find these men, they will be sorry they ever came after you or your family.”

I want to believe they’ll find them and do whatever they need to so I’ll be safe, but how can that possibly happen when we don’t know who they are?

As if he can hear my every thought, he says, “Have a little faith in me. Why don’t you take a shower? You can get changed into one of my t-shirts while I call Bones. We need his help with this.”

I nod. “And you’re sure he’s not with them?”

He smiles softly, “Yeah baby, I’m sure. Why are you so sure he’s one of them?”

Shrugging, I admit, “I don’t know. Maybe it’s the tattoos.”

Kissing the top of my head, he speaks and his voice comes out sounding thick with emotion, “Go shower. I swear to you, he won’t hurt you. I’d kill him if he tried. You’re safe here, baby girl. No harm will come to you.”

I have no choice but to put my faith in Sin at this point because the thought of leaving him behind is possibly as devastating as death. No one has ever made me feel like he does. He promises safety and for the first time in years; I think I might be safe with him. Do I know letting my guard down might prove dangerous? Yes, I really do, but I’m so tired of running. Exhausted really. Maybe Sin and his incredibly dangerous looking friend can help me. It’s risky maybe, but at this point I’ll take my chances.

“Shower.”

“Daddy,” I pout because I want him with me as always.

He chuckles. “That brat is never too far away, is she? Do as you're told, baby girl, so I can get rid of those assholes.”

“Yes, Daddy.”

I rise from the sofa, and he swats my ass. “Good girl.”

Not being able to help myself, I wiggle my ass, and he chuckles, “Later, baby girl. I will spank that beautiful ass later.”

CHAPTER 26

SIN

Bones answers the phone with a groan, “Seriously, man? I’m inside a tight pussy. Can it not wait?”

I shake my head as if he can see me, which, of course, he can’t. “No, it can’t. I need you at the penthouse.”

I disconnect the call without confirmation he’s on his way because I know he’ll cut his fucking short and come to me. It’s how our friendship works. I help him and he helps me when I need it. Normally, it’s me helping him, so I’m overdue with this one.

Twenty minutes later, he’s walking through my door. He’s one of the few people that has access to my penthouse. I trust him that much. He and Zade are the only friends I have that I know will always have my back. Zade is great if you need legal help, but I can’t imagine him killing anyone unless it involved Amira. However, if it comes down to it, he can get things done without dirtying his hands.

“Asshole,” Bones gripes as he plops down on the chair on the other side of my coffee table.

I roll my eyes. “Apparently, she saw her family get murdered by men. I don’t know how many, and they’ve been after since. She’s been on the run for years.”

He arches an eyebrow. “Interesting.”

I sigh and continue, “She thought you were with them because of your tats.”

Bones holds his hands up trying to convince me he’s not a threat, “Hey man, it’s not anybody from my family. I’d know.”

Rolling my eyes at him, I speak the truth. “I know that. You are all a bunch of assholes, but I don’t see you hunting a woman like this.”
