Page 22 of His Virgin Wife

He had no intention of knocking her up, yet whenshe told him she needed to wear underwear, he felt this sweeping disappointmentwash over him. He was not used to this feeling.

There had been women in the past who attempted toblackmail him, and try to claim he’d knocked them up. It was never the case. Hewas careful. Emily was different. She hadn’t been with any other man. She washis wife, and he had every intention of keeping her. She was his dream wife.

The past four weeks had been bliss. He hatedleaving home, and this was fucking crazy. Dom knew he needed to get his shittogether when it came to this woman. She was messing with his head, and thatwasn’t good.

Emily was just a woman.

He wasn’t in love.

He didn’t believe in love.

And yet, each time he was called away, he found itharder to leave her.

“What about him?” he asked. It was easier to talkabout her fucked-up father than it was to think about the feelings he wasdealing with.

“I didn’t know if he had been causing you anytrouble?”

“Nigel has a lot of trouble of his own. That lastsale is really biting him in the butt, and he didn’t have the collateral to payhimself out of this.” He went back to stroking her head.

He wasn’t about to tell Emily he and Nigel had aconversation. Nigel would give him anything he wanted if he would return Emilyto him, in her pure state.

Even now, that son of a bitch intended to sellher, to get himself out of this mess. He took great pleasure in letting thebastard know he wasn’t giving up his wife, and that her “pure state” wasalready taken care of.

Nigel had been pissed. Dom didn’t like his outburst,so he made sure several men were stationed near Nora. He had a horrible feelingNigel would attempt to hurt Emily’s mother.

It would be easy for him to take out Nigel—a pieceof cake—but with the cops hanging around, hoping to capture him, there was noway he could make a move just yet. Right now, he needed to take care of Emilyand make sure nothing happened to Nora. He felt her tense up.

“I hate him,” she said.

“You do?”

“Yeah, I can’t believe he was going to do that tome.” Emily shook her head. “I … it makes me so mad. Mom warned me. She told methere was nothing good about my father, but I don’t know, I guess I thought Iknew best, or that he would want to know his daughter.” She sighed and turnedtoward him, looking up at him.

He didn’t stop stroking her hair.

“Thank you,” she said.

“What are you thanking me for?”

“For not … giving up. You know, for coming to meand helping me. For kidnapping me.”

He chuckled. “You’re thanking me for kidnappingyou?”

“Yeah, I know it’s crazy, but the way I see it,you saved my life.” She shrugged. “Thank you.” She shook her head. “Do you …ugh … do that kind of stuff?”

He raised his brows. “What kind of stuff?”

“Sell women?”

“Emily, if you want to know more about my businessthen you’re going to have to be ready to hear it.”

She took a deep breath. “I’m ready.”

He gave her a second, allowing her time to backaway from this conversation, but she didn’t.

“I don’t capture and sell women,” Dom said. “I dohave women who work for me. I own brothels, but the women that do are free tocome and go as they please. I do not force them into any lifestyle.”

“Why do you do it?” Emily asked.
