She lifts a brow. “I think I’ve seen your world.”
I shake my head. “There’s always a flip side to the coin, love. You’ve only seen the bad. Let me show you the good.”
She sighs, her eyes dancing over mine for a moment, and then she says, “Okay.”
I smile. “Let’s go then.”
Chapter Forty-Six
Bones
By the time Bexley and I are dressed and ready the club is open. I show her the thrill of the way I live. She’s only ever known the bad side of this lifestyle, and that’s not all there is. We make our way down the stairs that descend from the private lounge area.
I’ll forever look at that pool table and think about how she tastes, how she feels when her world gets shattered. I’ll remember the way her fingers ripped through my hair and how her thighs tightened around my face. The soft moan that rushed from her lips and the way her back arched.
She’s a grown woman now. Last time I saw her with her legs spread for me, she was a young girl, and I was a young boy with a whole lot of madness inside of me.
I was darker then. Maybe I’ve been able to release some of that as the years have passed, I don’t know. I used to think we were invincible. We’d never get caught. We’d never fall. Life has a way of showing you, you know shit, your plans mean nothing.
We walk through the crowd of people that’s already accumulated, and I spot someone I recognize at the bar speaking with a woman. I approach him, looking from him to the slut kissing him.
I lift a brow. Surely, this isn’t the woman he gave up everything for. Bryce Grant sold me his club because he wanted to stay out of prison, but he also had a second motive.
His woman.
I’m intrigued, but it’s none of my business.
She goes to grab his hand, but he holds his up. “I’m not that guy. You know I have a woman,” he tells her.
Ah, so it’s not what it seems.
“So why are you here alone then?” she asks him, practically purring. I lick my lips, fighting back a smirk.
“Needed a drink. But I don’t need you.”
“Your loss,” she huffs, stomping away. I don’t look in her direction. The woman I want is right beside me.
“What brings you here?” I ask Grant.
He looks from me to Bexley. “Wanted to see how the old place was doing.”
I look around, taking it all in for a moment. It’s an impressive nightclub. He did a fine job, and I’d say it was still running on all cylinders. “Seems to be on the same page as when you owned it.”
“Yes, it does,” he agrees, appearing satisfied. “You in town for a little while?”
I shrug, not wanting to tell him all of my business. Not that I don’t like the man. I have respect for him. I wish I would have been able to leave everything a long time ago to be with the one I love, but some of us have a hard time changing, and some people don’t need to know everything you have going on.
“Not sure yet. I wanted to show her around. This is Bexley.”
Grant reaches out his hand. “Good to meet you,” he says, looking curiously at her.
“Same,” she replies. He studies us for a moment, and I break the questions noticeably going on in his mind.
“Can I get you a drink?” I ask.
“Nah. I’ve had enough. I need to get home.”
I smile. Good man. He knows when to take his exit. “Good. Call me if you need me.”
