“Sure.” Typhon shrugged.
“Poor sods. They wipe for you, too?”
The lackeys growled and Typhon raised a hand to quiet them, appraising Jaden with his eyebrows raised. “You’re in no position to make me angry.”
“On the contrary, I think I’m doing just fine.”
Typhon crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair. “Leave us,” he said.
Jaden smirked. He’d gotten under the guy’s skin and Typhon was clearly worried about potential lasting impacts. Choosing to dismiss his lackeys just proved he wasn’t as strong as he pretended to be.
Once the heavy door closed behind them, Typhon braced his arms on his knees, an ugly sneer on his face. “We’re going to have a chat, you and me. I’m only going to say this once, so listen closely. You leave Ruby alone.”
Who’s Ruby?
Jaden’s expression didn’t change with his internal confusion. “Women are capable of making their own decisions.”
“The fuck they are!” Typhon snarled. “I claimed her when we entered Valhalla’s Throne tonight. You had no fucking right to her.”
Seriously?
I can’t believe this guy.
Jaden spat out more blood. “She has the right to her own body. No man can claim her, me included.”
Typhon leapt to his feet and paced the length of the room.
Jaden was honestly surprised at the turn of events.
Have I been kidnapped and held hostage because I somehow made a move on this guy’s girl?
The only girl I’ve even talked to is…
He snickered out loud. “Did this ‘Ruby’ have red hair?”
“Of course she did! Why else would she have that name?” Typhon snarled.
“I think there might have been a misunderstanding. The only woman I’ve been with is unattached,” Jaden attempted to placate the man. “She came to see me tonight at work. You must have gotten her confused with your girl.”
Typhon got up in his face, his breath stinking like piss-poor beer. “I met my Ruby at the door tonight. She was supposed to sit on my lap while we watched the fights, having a good time. But my men spotted her sitting somewhere else and then followed her. She went intoyourroom backstage. They said there was no mistaking the noises that followed.” Typhon growled and pushed off the chair, rocking it backward and making Jaden throw his weight forward to avoid smashing his head on the concrete floor.
A cruel smirk played at Typhon’s lips. “So either you fucked my girl, or you weren’t in your room and someone else did.”
Jaden’s mind was racing.
Is it possible that Maddie is this guy’s girl and she lied to me?
He frowned, not liking that possibility. But it also seemed unlikely.
Why would she come find me when her boyfriend was right there?
And then he remembered something else.
Chloe got pissed off when I mentioned I’d had sex with Maddie.
Could it be because it was proof her friend was cheating?
Typhon had returned to the chair in front of him, one leg crossed over the other at the ankle. He had a smirk as if he had Jaden caught between a rock and a hard place.
