“What?” I asked.

“You just spiraled into an academic lecture that is so far beyond me. It was adorable. If Declan has even half your brains, I’m not surprised that my grandmother trusted him to sever her bond,” Aiden said.

He was smiling at me and my heart did a little flip. “Grandfather is one of the smartest people I know.”

Aiden’s smile grew and his eyes smoldered in the dark.

“And I really don’t want to talk about him anymore.” I pressed my body against his.

“I feel the same way.” He lowered his head and peppered light kisses across my face.

When he reached my lips, I wrapped my arms around his neck and held him tightly, not wanting or caring to breathe. His tongue slipped into my mouth to dance with mine and a tingle went through my entire body.

“Oh, Aiden,” I murmured, knees weak. “I want you.”

“Now?” he asked, teasingly.

“This instant, up against the castle wall. Every moment without you inside me is an eternity.”

He growled. “I know you’re half joking, but…” He magically ripped our clothes off. “You’re making me wild.”

I quickly cast the protection spell and then he was inside me.

CHAPTER17

Professor Reynolds’class was always a lesson in patience.

It wasn’t his fault, or even his intention.

It was just that the girls in the academy apparently only had one thing on their minds—sex.

And Professor Reynolds was a very attractive man. I could see it. But what mattered more to me was his mind.

Maybe if I hadn’t been getting a healthy dose of monster sex regularly over the past month, I’d be more inclined to agree with the others, but that wasn’t really the point I was trying to make.

My point was...

Professor Reynolds underlined a word on the chalkboard and a couple girls behind me sighed dreamily.

Right. Even Aiden being in the back row, two seats from the corner, didn’t distract me from learning as much as these girls.

I focused on the blackboard and scrawled a couple notes down.

A different way of analyzing a spell.

Interesting.

For more complex spells, the new concept was to break them down into smaller components.

How would each item, each focus, affect the spell?

Could you use a different one in its place?

How wouldthataffect the spell?

We also had to keep in mind the limitations of each component. Some could interact with others, if applied in an unusual fashion.

I sighed. This was so complicated! I wanted to try to apply what I was learning in class to the spell that Grandfather and Bridget had made to sever their soul bond, but I wasn’t sure that I’d be able to discover anything, even if I did manage to puzzle it out.
