“Besides, you’ve been having meals with us!” Una exclaimed. “We can miss you a few times a week so that you can spend some time with Aiden!”
“And if you find that you’re too distracted, you can explain that to him. If he doesn’t understand, which Ihighlydoubt, he wasn’t the guy for you.” Hazel flipped a piece of popcorn into the air and caught it in her mouth. “I think you need to talk to him tomorrow.”
“Or right now!” Una suggested.
“It’s after curfew. I’m not going to knock on his door and possibly get the both of us caught!” I chuckled. “Tomorrow is soon enough.”
“Good for you.”
“Why don’t we give ourselves a little pampering?” Hazel suggested. “Now that we’ve sorted out Siobhan’s love life.”
I stuck my tongue out at her. “I could definitely go for some pampering. I’ll get the face masks!”
“And I’ll get the nail station set up,” Hazel added.
I pulled out the face masks I’d brought from home. They were the basic human ones from the drugstore, but we could add our own little magical flair if we felt it was necessary. “Avocado, oatmeal, cucumber, and banana. Catch.” I tossed one to each of the girls. “I’m adding a spell for blackhead removal to mine. Maybe one for skin rejuvenation. I’ve spent the entire week indoors.”
“Good call,” Una said, nodding her approval. “I’ll do the same.”
“I’m adding some hydration to mine. I feel dry in my t-zone,” Hazel said.
“I have no idea what’s going on with my skin, so I’ll use all of those suggestions.” Rhiannon ripped open the package and delicately pulled out the green-tinged mask.
We all laid on our backs with the masks applied, and tried not to talk, so that the masks could dry and not crack.
Hazel tapped my ankle with her toes, and when I looked over at her, she offered a thumbs up that I returned. Hopefully the rest of the evening would go as well.
After the masks, we took turns taking care of each other’s hands, moisturizing them in a gentle massage and painting our fingernails.
I turned the nail polish a dark red, before Hazel changed it to a neon pink, Una to a forest green, and Rhiannon to a bright blue.
I pitied the humans, who had to buy multiple bottles in order to get the many colors they wanted.
After our polish was dry, we applied a clear top coat, with a smidge of magic to keep it from chipping.
“I need another drink!” Una declared. “I’m completely dry!”
We giggled and all got top-ups on our drinks while Hazel fiddled with our radio, trying to find a station playing dance music at this hour.
Finally she managed it, and we danced around the room, unsteady on the mattresses.
Although to be fair, I’m not sure I would have been any more stable on the solid floor.
When the radio changed to a commercial after four or five songs, we collapsed into little puddles, sipping from drinks that had magically not spilled a drop.
“We should play a game!” Una said.
“How about ‘Truth or Dare’?” I suggested, to great enthusiasm.
“Siobhan, truth or dare?” Una asked, getting on her knees.
“Dare. You girls already know everything about me,” I said.
“I dare you to put on your sexiest lingerie,” Una said.
I laughed. “I guess you don’t know me as well as I thought. I don’t have lingerie.”
“Oh, no, you’ve got to have lingerie!” Una gasped. She thought for a moment. “Okay, then you need to design some for yourself right now.” She pulled two scraps of fabric from her pocket and tossed them at me. “Here you go.”
