“Obsessively?” I suggested.
He shook his head. “Passionately. You were meant to be out there, discovering the world. And heck yeah, I want in. Anywhere you go, I’ll go too.” Aiden stopped walking, pressing me against a tapestry covered wall. “My turn to choose a direction. We’re going through here.”
“Through where?” I asked, bewildered as the fabric bunched around us.
Aiden dramatically pulled it aside and we were suddenly standing in a new hallway, wide enough for one person. He lit our way with a glowing orb hovering above our heads. “What’s my question?”
“Something has been bothering me,” I said slowly as we made our way down the narrow passage.
“What is it?” Aiden sounded anxious behind me.
“Well...” I hesitated.
What would he think of me?
“Please spit it out! I’m dying here!” Aiden said, gripping my shoulder tightly.
I put my hand over his and gave it a reassuring squeeze. “It’s just that...” I shook my head, trying to find the right way to phrase my question. “I’ve seen you when we’re having sex. Sometimes you’ll get so into the passion that you won’t notice that you start to beast out a bit—”
“I’m so sorry!” Aiden interrupted me. “I’ll try harder to—”
I whirled around and put my fingers over his mouth, stopping him. “No, you don’t understand. I don’t want you to stop. I love you, in both your forms, and the idea of grabbing onto your horns as you fuck me into a wall is really sexy.”
Aiden’s eyes smoldered as I talked. It took all my energy to focus on my question. He was obviously into it, and my core throbbed in anticipation.
“My question is, can you please fulfill my fantasy?” I finished breathlessly.
CHAPTER18
“Siobhan,”Aiden gasped. He half-fell, half-pushed me against the wall. “I want that more than anything.”
I drew his head down for a deep kiss, intoxicated by the taste of his mouth and the desire I felt for him. “Yes, Aiden. I need to feel your fire!”
Aiden groaned, pulling himself the scant inches away to lean against the wall on the other side of the passageway. “I can’t,” he whimpered.
I followed, pressing myself against him. “Why not?” I couldn’t decide if I was disappointed or just confused. “What’s wrong?”
“I don’t want to hurt you.” His voice was barely a whisper, but I could hear it. He grabbed my hand and started pulling me out of the hidden tunnel. “It was a mistake to come here. I shouldn’t have brought you here.”
I planted my heels on the floor, but Aiden was much stronger than I was and he pulled me off balance. “No, wait! Stop, Aiden!” I cried, trying to free my hand. “You’re shutting me out! What is going on? Talk to me!”
As abruptly as he’d started pulling me, he stopped, and I crashed into his solid back. “We can’t... be together like that. I can never fully be with you. Why can’t you understand?”
I felt like I was talking to a brick wall. “Because you haven’t explainedwhy!” I exclaimed, exasperated.
“I would burn you!” he shouted, whipping around to face me. “Every time we’re together, I almost lose control. I am literallycoveredin fire, what don’t you get about that? I would toast you like a marshmallow!”
The thought of gooey marshmallows being rubbed over my body almost made me moan.
Now is not the time, girl.
Pull yourself together!
“Aiden, sweetheart.” I took his face in my hands. “I am not only a witch, but I am your soulmate. You can’t hurt me.”
“You can’t possibly know that,” Aiden said between gritted teeth.
“I’m touching you now.”
