A few minutes later, Kit joined them. He’d found one of Connie’s shirts and had put it on. Connie’s heart stumbled to a stop. The damn thing covered everything up—just barely—and Kit had left it partially unbuttoned down the front. His hair was still up in a messy bun and his skin was flushed from the shower.
He was simply the most beautiful creature Connie had ever seen.
He crawled up next to Connie on the couch. “Shower’s open.”
Hudson patted him on the back as he stood. “I’ll be right back.”
“M’kay.”
Connie wrapped his arm around Kit, who was practically lying on top of him. His dress shirt was hiked up far enough to expose a lot of Kit’s thighs, and his eyes were closed.
“Thank you,” Kit mumbled quietly.
Turning his head, he tried to see Kit, but he had his face buried in Connie’s shoulder. “For what?”
“I don’t know. For being you? For caring? For giving me time? All the above? I’m buzzed still, fucked out, and… happy.”
Connie wrapped his arm around Kit. “I’m glad. I’m happy too.”
“Good. I’m probably going to sleep now,” Kit muttered.
Amused, Connie kissed the top of Kit’s head. “Okay.”
“And I’m sleeping here.”
“Even better.”
Kit didn’t answer, but Connie wasn’t surprised. He had been on the verge of sleep as soon as he had lain down.Happiness washed over Connie that Kit was going to sleep in their bed once again.
A few minutes later, Hudson joined them. “Is he asleep?”
“Out like a light,” Connie confirmed.
“Hopefully he’ll sleep through the night,” Hudson said, sitting down next to them on the couch. “It’s been an eventful day.
“Isn’t that the truth? I’m going to take him to bed.”
“Which bed?”
Connie smiled. “Ours. He said he wanted to sleep with us again.”
The smile that crossed Hudson’s face was pure and genuine. It warmed Connie because he didn’t see that often from Hudson.
Standing with his mate in his arms, he carried Kit to their bed.
CHAPTER TWENTY – HUDSON
MONDAY MORNING arrived, and Hudson still hadn’t decided what to do about Kit. The meeting of the paranormals of San DeLain was scheduled to take place that night at Isadora’s restaurant, as usual.
He and Connie had talked about requesting Kit visit Austin during the meeting, but neither of them was comfortable with Kit being out of their territory.
If they asked for such a favor from Kage, they couldn’t very well insist the visit take place at the compound. Kage, of course, would want Austin in his territory where he was safest—the same problem Hudson was having.
Sitting at his desk, Hudson stared blindly at his laptop.
Kit and Beckett had left for work, and Connie had taken the morning to finish moving the rest of his things into Hudson’s house. Beckett had suggested they tell Kit about the meeting and ask if he’d rather visit Austin or stay home.
Beckett even volunteered to stay behind with Kit. Which Hudson appreciated because his inner circle always attended meetings like this, so they would be with Hudson at the meeting instead of at the compound.
