But she’d resisted Logan for so long that it was almost a habit to do it. If asked, Faith couldn’t even be sure what she’d say was her reason for keeping him at arms’ length.

She’d had a reason once.What was it?

She shook her head in response to her friend as she watched Logan head into the barn. “Honestly? I’m not sure if I do know.”

Faith took a minute to shake off the unsettled feeling that she’d been getting more and more when it came to Logan. She wouldn’t be able to ignore it forever, that much she knew, but she’d try to push it off a little longer.

“So,” Faith refocused on her friend. “Tell me how I can help you and Amy?”

A moan escapedSarah’s lips as Brody’s hands traced the length of her body, from her shoulder to the curve of her hip. His touch was like nothing she’d ever experienced before. Still half asleep, she wiggled backward to press herself into him. His hard length pressed up against her back and her body responded instantly, moisture pooling between her legs despite her half-asleep state.

It was Brody’s turn to groan. He pulled her closer and kissed the back of her neck as he swept her hair out of the way. “Good morning, beautiful.”

“Mmmm.” Talking wasn’t high on her priority list for morning activities.

Thankfully, it didn’t take long for Brody to get the message. A moment later, he had his arm around her, cupping her breast as he slid into her wet heat from behind.

They moved together slowly, a perfect fit.

She gasped as Brody’s hand reached around and moved between her legs. With the multiple sensations, it didn’t take long for the pressure to build inside her until finally Sarah’s orgasm flowed through her like a warm wave that touched every part of her. Seconds later, while she was still vibrating, Brody took his own release as he held her tight, as if she might slip away.

He needn’t have worried. She wasn’t going anywhere.

“It certainly is a good morning.” Brody chuckled as he turned and propped himself up on pillows so she could snuggle on his chest.

She inhaled his scent and let it fill her.Why had she tried to push him away?

She couldn’t even make sense of how she was feeling so conflicted only a few short days ago because, in that moment, with him in her bed, and her safe in his arms, Sarah couldn’t imagine them being any other way.

“You’re quiet this morning.”

She lifted her head and looked into his eyes. “I’m just enjoying you here.”

“Here in your bed, here? Or herehere?”

She grinned. “Both.”

It had been two days since theincidentat the lake. It still set her heart racing when she thought about that afternoon and the fear that had gripped her when she thought she’d lost him.

It was too much. The thought that she might never see him again. That she might have lost him the same way that she’d lost Josh.

No. Not the same at all.

Still…the moment she’d seen him again, she’d grabbed hold of him, and she’d barely let go since.

Brody kissed her on the forehead. “I’m enjoying being here, too.”

After making sure Rory and Clara—and of course Brody—were okay after their terrifying ordeal, the only thing Sarah had wanted to do was be at home. And that’s exactly where they’d been ever since. Sarah had called in some sick days, and Brody had Amy cover for him at the restaurant, and the three of them had holed up inside—watching movies, eating pizza, playing board games—and when Rory went to bed, the two of them would sneak down the hall to her bedroom and make love. It had been the perfect few days.

No stress. No worry. No real life. And as much as Sarah would have been content keeping it that way forever, she knew it wasn’t realistic. They would have to face the world soon enough.

But she’d be ready for it.

Sarah was done avoiding life and the hard things.

With a sigh, she sat up and pulled the sheet up to cover her breasts.
