After another hour or so, they had managed to finally get enough shots that Faith was fairly sure they had what they needed. It had been a struggle at times, but Faith was sure they got enough shots to make it all work. She thanked Dan, who promised to send her the final shots by the end of the following week and excused Sarah, who seemed relieved to be finished and away from Brody. Who seemed reluctant to let Sarah walk away. There was definitely something going on there, but for the life of her, Faith couldn’t figure out what it was. One minute they seemed like they were finally going to figure out what everyone else knew and make it official, and the next, it was as if they couldn’t stand the sight of each other.
She waited until everyone was gone, and then—more than ready to pour herself a glass of wine and kick her feet up on the porch—she grabbed her clipboard and was walking through the barn when Logan appeared in front of her.
“That went pretty well, don’t you think?”
She jumped back and wielded her clipboard.
“Don’t hit me.” Logan laughed.
Despite herself, Faith found herself smiling. A detail that left her conflicted. Logan had done nothing but infuriate her since she was sixteen years old.And turn her on.She forced that particular line of thought from her mind. It didn’t matter if his kiss earlier had left her toes curled and her panties a little damp. He wasLogan.
“I should do a lot more than hit you for what you pulled earlier.” She hugged her clipboard tight and pushed past him to the door.
He grabbed her arm before she could reach it, and spun her around, backing her up against the wall. “Like…you should maybe kiss me again?”
He stood so close, Faith could smell the sharp, clean scent of his soap mixed with the earthy muck that was distinctly Logan. Despite herself, her breath came in short puffs as her heart rate raced.
He leaned in closer.
It would be so easy to kiss him. To give in to the feelings that, despite her best efforts to stop them, continued to grow for this man who made her so crazy.
How bad could it be?
Very bad.
It could be very bad. And it would be very bad if she gave in to those feelings. For so many reasons.
One…they worked together.
Two…
Damn. Why couldn’t she think of a two?
She pulled in a sharp breath and Logan’s lips twitched up in a cocky grin as he leaned in.
Shit.
Two…he wasLogan Langdon.
Right before his lips connected with hers, she ducked to the side.
There was no way she could let herself go there. Not with Logan.
She snuck out the barn door into the fresh air, leaving him hanging.
No.
Not when he had the ability to make her feel so many things with just one kiss.
No way.
“Faith!”
She was being childish, she knew it, but still Faith didn’t turn around. Maybe she could pretend that she didn’t hear him calling after her. Or that she’d basically just run away from him.
“I know you can hear me.”
She stopped and turned around.
