“A little bit of both, Princess.” Leaning over, I slid my lips along hers, licking off the smear of syrup on them. “Not as tasty as your other lips, but I love them just the same. Let’s finish eating before I say fuck it and keep you in my bed all day.”
When we were finished, I walked her out to her car before hopping on my bike to head to the garage. A little over two hours into work, I had finished one of the cars and had made great progress on the second one. While under the hood, my phone vibrated in my pocket with an incoming call. After wiping my hands on the rag hanging from my jeans, I grabbed it. “Yeah.”
“I need you and a couple of the guys to go check out the abandoned farmhouse on Fallow Lane. Word is Brutal Demons is using it as a storehouse. Not sure if they have any members hanging out there as well or not. So I want you to contact Pip and add a few of his guys to your party.” Prez was really insistent on us working together with Pyro Devils on things involving keeping other clubs out of our area. Especially ones that were causing trouble.
Releasing a low grumble, I strolled out to the main area. “I’ll round up a few while I contact Pip and we’ll get out there as soon as possible.”
Prez ended the call so I clicked on Pip’s number and put it on speaker.
“Axel, Gage, Skip, Hedge. Prez wants us to head out to Fallow Lane to check on a possible storehouse for Brutal Demons.”
“Yeah.” Pip answered after three rings.
“Can you and some of your guys meet us out at the abandoned farmhouse on Fallow Lane? We got some intel it might be a storehouse for Brutal Demons.”
Only a brief hesitation. “Give me fifteen minutes to round up some guys and we’ll meet you at the corner of Homestead and Fallow.” Communication was always brief with him. Our clubs were allies, but nowhere near the level of amiable where members would hang out for beers at the bar.
“I’ll join you guys. Let me check in with Sage and Bolt first.” Ryder turned and walked toward the storage room, phone at his ear.
“Both trucks have a full tank of gas. I’ll go grab some rolls of duct tape since the cops would rather we bind them instead of shoot them to ensure they don’t run off before they get there.” Axel’s brown eyes lit up with amusement as he tugged his dark blond hair into a pony tail. “Don’t they understand; those types never make things easy so it’s not our fault they always end up pierced with a bullet hole or two.” Chuckling, he headed out to where our trucks were parked.
Ryder stepped in front of me. “Are we ready?”
“Yup.” My phone buzzed with a text message, so figuring it was more instructions from Prez, I pulled it out of my pocket.
Princess: sorry I can’t meet you for lunch today but I’m out at Anderson’s farm helping a horse give birth don’t worry I’ll wash up before I get to your place lol I’m so excited see you later ;)
“Well, fuck.”
“Problem?”
“Hopefully not but there’s a good chance there will be. Brooke is heading out to Anderson’s farm to assist the vet with one of the horses.”
Ryder nodded with understanding. “And their stable isn’t that far from the abandoned farmhouse. Hopefully, they’re so engrossed in their work they don’t notice any action coming from nearby and wander over to check it out.”
“I don’t want her caught in the crossfire and even if they wait until the police arrive to come nosing around, I don’t want her there when her dad shows up either. That will just feed the fire. Even though it wouldn’t be my fault she was there; he’d still blame me.”
Not that I was afraid of him, but I knew it bothered Brooke how much he detested me. So any added ire just made it harder on her. And I didn’t want that. So, we just had to get in and get out swiftly without causing too much of a disturbance and with any luck, she and the vet would be so busy they would have no idea anything was going down. And then once the police showed up to handle arrests and such, we could be on our way and Chief Nolan . . . no wait, excuse me ChiefWolfe. . . would have no reason to toss any further animosity in my direction.
What were the odds of all of that working in my favor?

After a fifteen minute drive out to the countryside, we stopped at the crossroads of Homestead and Fallow and pulled the trucks along the side of the road. A moment later, two more trucks pulled in behind us. We hopped out and met the guys from Pyro Devils on the grassy area that led into a smattering of trees. Just enough to conceal us for a little while during our trek up to the farmhouse.
Nodding my head at Pip, I gestured to his entourage. Twist, Badger, and what looked like two prospects since I didn’t recognize them accompanied him. “We’re not sure how many if any are stationed in the building. We appreciate you backing us up. I can’t imagine we’ll be outnumbered. If anything we believe it’s only a storehouse; we’re unaware of any formal clubhouse. I’m assuming you guys haven’t heard any differently.”
Pip ran his hand through his dirty blond hair and studied me with his unusual yellow eyes. "From what we can gather, they don’t have anything permanent here. It looks like they run in small amounts of supplies and men weekly; moving out before they are detected other than the few times one of our clubs nabbed them. It’s like they are scoping out where the best areas to hide or blend in are and how to best stay under the radar. Almost as if they are in their planning stage.”
“Your thoughts make sense. We get the same vibe. So hopefully we can keep intercepting them so that they don’t get a chance to settle their own chapter here. Or even better; remove enough of them so there isn’t a sufficient number for a club. Let’s go see what we got.”
Our two groups trudged through the copse of trees. When we reached the clearing about thirty yards from the farmhouse, a battered structure left decaying from the weather and absent upkeep, we split into singles and partners to lessen our chance of detection or rouse suspicion. But we also shifted to a jog knowing if there was anyone stationed at the farmhouse, we wouldn’t remain undetected for long. Giving a passing glance to the Anderson’s stable off in the distance but close enough to hear gunfire should it erupt, I positioned myself just to the right of the entrance to the building, Ryder at my side.
“Do you think I gave everyone enough time to get positioned around the perimeter?”
“Yeah, the guys all seemed to be moving at a quick clip.” Ryder slipped his gun from the back of his waistband.
