"You’re going to stay with us?" She had her own family and life. "I mean, I’m not complaining, I’m just surprised."

"I told you why." Rosemary’s eyes tightened in warning. "And you can’t seem to stay out of trouble, so it only makes sense to be close by."

"What are you going to tell your parents?" Griffin blinked in surprise.

"That I’m staying with a friend." She shrugged. "I mean, I consider Sterlyn that anyway, so it wouldn’t be a lie. The city is a little tense right now anyway, so it’d probably be a blessing that I was out of their hair regardless."

Wow. She thought we were friends. I liked her, so I’d roll with it. "And we have three extra bedrooms."

Griffin beamed at my words.That’sright. Wedo.

"You said five." Killian pushed off the wall. "Sierra doesn’t need to be wrangled into this. She already survived an attack."

"They might not realize who she is yet." Rosemary glanced at the blonde shifter. "If she goes back home though, they might locate her family, and she could put them at risk."

I hadn’t even considered that. Killian should’ve thought about that before bringing her with him.

"It’s fine," Sierra reassured everyone. "It makes sense for me to stay. I want to help you all. It’s just a benefit that I could be protecting my family by doing it."

Griffin’s phone dinged. He looked at it and groaned. "It’s Dick. He’s pulling into the neighborhood."

"Then that’s my cue to run home and grab some clothes." Rosemary stood and headed toward the back door. "I don’t want him to see me here—it’ll raise too many questions. Text me when he’s gone." She exited the house, and I watched as she took flight.

The fact that an angel was hanging out with us shouldn’t raise questions. We were all supernaturals and should be friendly. Maybe that could be part of the plan Griffin and I worked on together.

"What does he want?" Killian asked.

"He said we need to talk. That it’s important and involves Luna." Griffin complained.

My heart dropped. What had the bitch done now?

CHAPTER THIRTEEN

"What do we do?"Sierra stood and rubbed her arms. "I’d rather not run into Dick if I can help it. He hollers at me enough at the bar, and I called out sick because of the whole Sterlyn thing."

"Go into one of the guest bedrooms." Griffin pointed at one of the doors back down the hallway. "I’ll meet him outside and try to keep him from coming in."

"I don’t care if he knows I’m here," Killian scoffed, and took Rosemary’s spot on the couch. "Dovecan stay in here with me while you take care of business."

"No, she’s going outside with me." Griffin shook his head and took my hand. "She’s my mate, and we’ve claimed each other. We need to be seen as a united front."

"Are you sure?" Sierra furrowed her brows. "From what I’d heard, your mom didn’t rule by your dad’s side, or at least, that’s the perception we had on the ridge."

"That’s true…but unlike my dad, I have the strongest wolf by my side, and one who can lead in her own right." Griffin kissed my cheek. "And we will not be seen as alpha and alpha mate, but as their leaders together." He stilled. If you’reokay with that.

The fact that he wanted me beside him in all ways somehow deepened my affection for him. This was more than a mate-ship—it was a true recognition of the alpha wolf in both of us. A weak man couldn’t handle a strong woman beside him, but Griffin was anything but that.More than okay.I kissed his lips, letting him feel how much that meant to me.

"Yeah. On that note…" Sierra walked out of the room, pretending to dry heave.

"Thanks." Killian groaned. "You’re leaving me alone in here and making me watch those two like a creeper."

"If the shoe fits," I teased and gave Griffin a huge kiss, making loud noises.

Griffin’s shoulders shook as he wrapped his arms around my waist.

"My eyes!" Killian cried and grabbed a couch pillow, putting it over his head.

A knock at the door turned our moment of fun into thick tension.
