Page 100 of Destined Mate

“She’shuge,” Samuel said as he walked around me.

His comment made me want to strut around. Was this how men felt when someone complimented the size of their penis? Although I had no control over my size, I still wanted to puff out my chest.

Bodey chuckled, and his humor wafted through our bond, making me happier. “She very much likes your description of her.”

Suddenly, the walls seemed to close in on me. I needed to escape. I also wanted to be with Bodey. I pawed at the floor, the two conflicting emotions at war as heat expanded in my body. I sensed that if I ran, it would make whatever was happening inside me easier.

“She needs to run,” Bodey said, and he nodded to the door. “Can you open the front door for us? I’ll shift and go with her.”

Samuel continued to stare at me, not blinking. “Yeah, but how is this possible? Tonight of all nights?”

Needing to be close to Bodey, I brushed against his naked legs.

Samuel sniffed, and his eyes bulged. “Wait. You two completed a mate bond? Is that how this happened?”

“I don’t know.” Bodey ran his fingers through my fur. “But we can talk about itlater.”

I whined and nudged his naked body toward the door. I didn’t want him to go outside naked, but I didn’t want to leave him. Damn him for being so sexy.

“Just be safe.” Samuel hurried down the hallway. “I’ll get the front door.”

“Can you give me a second to shift?” Bodey asked as he squatted in front of me. His blue eyes were so warm, I could have stared into them forever…if I didn’t want to run.

Hurry.I licked his face, enjoying the saltiness of his skin.I need to be with you and nature.

Dark-brown fur sprouted across his skin, and his eyes took on the glow of his wolf. That sounds perfect to me.

I watched in awe as his bones cracked and re-formed. Unlike mine, his shift was fast and without agony. Within seconds, he was on four legs. His tongue rolled out as he jumped on my side playfully.

Let’s run, he linked, licking my nose.

Run.

My legs scurried, feeling off balance in this form. At first, my paws skidded against the wooden floor until I pressed them down, gaining traction. Then I took off down the hallway, racing toward the front door.

Bodey stayed behind me, letting me lead and get acclimated. His warmth mixed with mine, and my chest grew even hotter. I needed to be out in the cool air to ease the escalating sensations swirling inside me.

As I raced to the front door, Samuel beamed, watching me.Have fun!he linked.

His voice in my head made me falter, and I planted my front paws on his chest and then sprang out the door. His deep laughter quieted as I rounded the corner of the house and headed to the woods.

The soft grass brushed my paws with each step, and I wondered why I’d ever worn shoes. Rain was now drizzling, the scent dewy and fresh, the mist cooling my fur and making my muscles move more easily.

Bodey caught up and ran beside me. He turned his head to me, his tongue lolling out of his mouth.Let’s have fun, but we can’t go too far. I told our scouts that we’re out here, but we can’t be reckless. Let’s not go farther than a few miles out.

Okay.As long as we were outside, I’d take what I could get. Unable to stop myself, I pounced on him, our bodies tumbling over each other toward the trees.

He crouched.You’d better run!

I took off. The sound of his pursuit urged me to push my legs faster. Unlike when I was in human form, animals didn’t scurry as I passed. Raccoons didn’t shy away as they scavenged for food, and two foxes kept hunting nearby.

I was a part of nature, no longer an intruder.

Bodey and I weaved through the trees. He’d catch me, and then I’d chase after him. Each time, we tumbled over each other, licking and pawing.

The warmth in my chest eased, or maybe I was acclimating. My wolf, finally part of me. I slowed, listening to the rain patter against the trees and ground. What does a pack link feel like?Maybe that was the warmth inside my chest. I hadn’t noticed how ice cold and hollow I’d always felt until the sensation had shattered and filled with heat.

Bodey trotted beside me, his head tilting. You weren’t able to feel your pack mates?
