“You were drugged,” Matt said.

“But why would he do that to us?”

“Probably for fun,” James said. “It happens all the time.”

After talking with Matt and James, I went down to the pool and didn’t see Damien anywhere, so I went up to his suite and knocked on the door. Nothing. He wasn’t in there, and I had no way of getting ahold of him.

The day had passed, and still no word from Damien. Matt and James felt a little better and packed for our flight tomorrow morning. I did the same, watched some TV, and then fell asleep.

The following morning, I was woken up by a knock on my room door. I put on my robe, opened it, and found Damien standing there. He pushed past me and stepped inside.

“What time is your flight?” he asked.

“Three hours,” I replied.

“Flight number?” he asked.

“Let me check.” I grabbed my phone and pulled up my ticket. “807.”

“I’m on the same flight.”

“Where were you all day yesterday? I tried to find you. I even went to your suite.”

“I was out and didn’t want to be bothered. I’m going to need your phone number so I can get in touch with you about the annulment.”

“Okay,” I rattled off my number. “Yours?”

“You’ll get it when I text you.” He turned and headed for the door. “I guess I’ll see you on the plane.”

“Yeah. I guess you will.”

He walked out, and I stood there with my hands on my hips as the door slammed shut. As sexy as Damien Blackwood was, he was a total asshole and not marriage material at all. He claimed I wasn’t taking this situation seriously, but I was. Who just marries some stranger in Vegas? Apparently, I did. But I wasn’t surprised by how my life had been going lately.

“Where’s your husband?” Matt nudged my shoulder when we arrived at the airport.

“I don’t know. He’s around here somewhere.” I looked around the airport as we stood in line at security.

Once we made it through, we headed to our gate just as the plane started boarding.

“Oh my God. I told you we were barely going to make it.” I smacked Matt’s arm.

“Ouch, princess. Blame James. He was the one who took too long in the bathroom.”

“Like I can help it,” James said.

Once they called our zone, we scanned our boarding passes and boarded the plane. I stopped when I saw Damien sitting in first class.

“You two go ahead. I’ll meet you back there,” I told Matt, sitting in the empty aisle seat next to Damien.

“Is that your seat?” he asked.

“No. I just thought we should talk for a minute.”

“I’m not in the mood, Willa.” He sighed.

“Listen. I know you don’t think I’m fazed by this whole ordeal, but I am. I want you to know that.”

“Fine. You’re fazed.” He looked down at his phone.
