He shook his head. "Kids only make things more complicated."
I nodded because, in his future, they would. He was going to be a famous rock god one day.
I knew I wanted a big family. The kind of family I never had. I wanted a husband and at least four kids. I wanted a house full of people all the time.
"I understand if you want to walk away," he breathed against my skin. "I don't want you to, but I get it."
I'd been obsessed with Trystan for so long that it was hard to just walk away with the understanding that all we'd ever be is friends, especially with the way my body reacted to him. "What happens if I stay? What does our future look like?"
"We have fun together."
"Until?" I narrowed my eyes. "I find someone else? Until I want something more? Do I date other people? Do you?"
"Until it's over." His fingers tightened, digging into my flesh. "I have no right to ask you not to date other people."
I waited a long moment for him to say whether or not he'd be seeing other women, but his lack of response said it all. He couldn't ask me not to date when he would be dating or fucking other women.
"I think I need some time." I dropped my hands to his wrists and gently shoved them. He dropped his hands, and I took a step back, flicking a glance at the clock. "I actually have to meet Kaia soon." Disappointment flickered in his eyes, but he nodded. "Let me change and grab my bag, and I'll drop you off at your house."
"Will you text me later?"
Sucking in a deep breath, I exhaled slowly. "Probably." I hadn't processed all my thoughts and feelings yet, so I didn't know if I'd call or text.
He pushed to his feet, stepping forward into my space. Our bodies brushed together as our gazes connected. "Probably?" He raised his brows. "That sounds like I may not hear from you again."
Swallowing hard, I shrugged. "I'll always be around. I'm just not sure about everything else." I dropped my gaze, avoiding eye contact.
His hand slid into my hair, tugging gently, forcing my gaze up while his other hand cupped the side of my face, pressing his thumb to my throat. "Then I guess I better give you something to remember me by."
Before I even had time to register what was happening, his mouth slammed against mine. White-hot heat punched through me as my mouth opened, and his tongue slid in, tasting mine. My body melted into his, and I never wanted him to stop. Except he did.
Breaking from the kiss, he released me, taking a step back. I brought my fingers to my swollen lips. There was no way I'd ever be able to forget Trystan or that kiss.
"I'll be outside," he breathed, flashing me a smile before disappearing out the door.
It took me a few minutes to collect myself, and Trystan waited for me while I quickly changed. My phone buzzed, and I figured it was Kaia, but when I grabbed it off the dresser, I smiled.
Owen: You going to be at the rink this morning?
Trystan made me forget any other man ever existed, but he wasn't emotionally available.
Camryn: Yes, I'm on my way to pick up Kaia now. You?
Owen: Yeah, are we still on for tonight?
I'd run into Owen at Brayden's party, and we had a few drinks together before Trystan showed up. Before he left, he'd asked me on a date, and I'd said yes. I thought when I left with Trystan, I would regret that decision, but I didn't. I couldn't wait to go out with him.
Camryn: Yes, pick me up at seven?
Owen: Your place or Kaia's?
Camryn: I'll let you know where I'm at.
Owen: See you at the rink in a few.
I clicked my phone closed and shoved it into my bag before bolting for the door.
"You ready?" I strolled around the back of my car, pulling open the back driver's door, and tossing my bag inside before jerking my door open and sliding inside.
