Page 23 of Dirty Pucking Tease

"Do you flirt with a lot of girls?" I asked, gliding around him as he reached into the black bag he'd been carrying and pulled out black pucks, tossing them across the ice.

"No, only the ones I like."

"I've never seen you with the same girl." How could you tell if he liked a girl if he never saw the same girl twice?

"Fact." Did that mean he didn't flirt with girls? Jax was a complete mystery to me. Sex came easy to him, but intimacy seemed to scare him away.

"Tell me how the game works," I said when he tossed the black bag over the wall.

"If you think I'm flirting, you can call a penalty, but if you're wrong, you have to complete a dare."

"And if I'm right."

"Then I'll complete a dare, but if you miss me flirting with you, you'll also have to complete a dare."

"Let's do this."

He spent the next hour showing me how to hit the puck and skate with the puck, and I was so focused on the stupid puck I forgot why we were actually there.

"I've flirted with you several times, and you've missed all of them," Jax muttered.

"I guess I can't do two things at once." I shrugged. The corner of his lip twitched.

"Dare time."

Shit. "Hit me with it."

"I dare you to take Petrov up on her offer and train with her."

"What?" I snapped. "Jax, no."

"Just train," he said. I shook my head. "For a couple of months. If you decide you don't want to skate after that, I'll never say anything about it again." He glided into my space, and I shifted to move away, but I wasn't fast enough; he caught me by the waist, pulling me against him.

"I want a different dare," I said, rolling my eyes.

He cupped my face, pulling my gaze up to meet his. "Will you at least think about it?" Sucking in a deep breath, I sighed before I nodded.

"Wait." I narrowed my gaze. "You're flirting." His lips twitched, and I knew I was right. I pulled out of his grasp and did a happy skate around him. "My turn."

"Hit me with it," he mocked me.

"Hmm," I hummed, pursing my lips. He pushed me outside my comfort zone, and I wanted to do the same. "I dare you to text Cam and tell her your real feelings for her."

"What if I really do hate her?"

"You don't; nobody hates Cam." Everyone loved Cam.

He froze, narrowing his eyes on me. "Kai, do you think I have romantic feelings for Cam?"

"Doesn't everyone?"

His lips parted as he stared blankly at me. "Do you think I would leave Cam with Trystan if I liked her like that?" I raised my shoulders, pursing my lips. "You really don't get it, do you?" He opened his mouth like he was going to say something but then snapped it shut.

"What?"

"Never mind.” he skated away. He was shutting down on me like he always did.

"Jax," I snapped. "Don't do that." I pushed off the ice, speeding up behind him. "Don't shut me out like that." He spun, twisting to face me and continuing to glide backward. "What's going on?"
