Jax and Owen sliced through the ice, stopping in front of me. "Get off this ice before I remove you." Owen was always the one to talk Jax down, but not this time. This time, they both looked like they were contemplating murder.

"Jax." I placed my hand on his heaving chest, trying to calm him. "Jax, please."

"I just came to clean out my locker," Parker said. "And..."

"Then clean it out and leave." The threatening tone in his voice didn't go unnoticed. "And if you come back or get stupid enough to try to talk to Kaia again, I'll rip your fucking throat out."

I shoved Jax backward to get his attention, but it wasn't working. His gaze was fixed on Parker, and if looks could kill, Parker would have spontaneously combusted when Jax's skates hit the ice.

I shoved Jax back again, and new memories flashed forward: the night in the bar, the fight at the hotel, and all the feelings and mix of emotions I'd felt for both Jax and Alex all came flooding back.

"Jax, I remember."

Her words hit me like a ton of bricks.

She remembered.

My chest tightened, and I suddenly found it hard to breathe. If she remembered everything, that meant she remembered her feelings for Alex and all the hurt I'd put her through. A bolt of sadness spiked through me.

"Let's go," Owen hissed, grabbing a hold of Parker's shirt and spinning him around. "I'm going to help you clean out that locker and personally escort you out of the building."

Kaia's gaze followed Parker as Owen led him off the ice. "Don't kill him, please," she shouted. "I don't think you get bail on premeditated murder." She was joking around. That was a good sign, right?

She spun on the ice, her gaze connecting with mine. I couldn't read her. If she was upset or about to end everything, I couldn't tell. She opened her mouth.

"Skate with me," I cut her off.

Her mouth snapped shut, and her brows pinched. "But..."

"Skate with me, and let me take you out tonight. Tomorrow morning, we can go back to reality."

"So, you don't want to know what I remember?"

No, I didn't. I wanted everything to stay the same, but I knew that wasn't possible. "Yes, I just want one more night with you before..." I trailed off.

"Jax..."

"Please." I sighed. "Just give me tonight, and tomorrow, we go back to reality." The reality where I'd hurt her.

"Okay." She smiled, pushing off the ice and circling me. "I'll play you for it."

My face pinched with confusion. "Play me... For what?"

"If you win, we wait to talk." She sliced through the ice, stopping throwing the shaved ice onto my skates. "And if I win, we talk now."

My lips curled into a grin for the first time since my skates hit the ice. "What do you have in mind?"

"Hockey."

I huffed out a laugh. There was no way I heard her right. "You want to play a game of hockey?" She nodded, and I pushed off the ice, sliding to a stop behind her. My hands curled around her hips as I dropped my mouth to her ear. "I think you're going to lose this one, Baby Cruz." I let the heat of my breath caress her skin, and she shivered against me as I pressed my lips to her neck.

She shoved out of my grasp, skating away from me before spinning back. A smug smile pulled at the corners of her mouth. "That, sir, is a penalty."

She was playing with me. "A major penalty?" I smirked, pushing off the ice. I wanted to touch her. "Will you be joining me in the penalty box?"

Shaking her head, she clicked her tongue, holding out her waving finger in front of her as she began skating backward. She kept enough distance between us that I couldn't reach out and touch her. "Are you ready to play? Or are you scared?"
