“Untie me,” I demand.
The alpha laughs. “No.”
“Trust me. You’ll want to untie me once you learn what I have to show you.”
“It’s an act, Mace. Don’t fall for it,” the smaller one states.
Mace, so that’s the big bad wolf’s name.“Yeah, Mace, don’t fall for the girl who knows every single security camera of every Insignys building in the world.” I’m baiting him, but the smirk on my face isn’t fake. “Don’t listen to the daughter of the man that’s been terrorizing your clan for years, and definitely don’t trust the girl on your side who has an inside advantage to reach the one man you want to destroy.”
Mace stares me down and lifts his chin as the other extends his arms out to the sides in frustration. “We should tape her mouth shut. I can’t believe you’re falling for this.”
“Shut up, Jax.” He maintains eye contact with me and nods slowly. “What’s your name?”
I sigh and stick my tongue in my cheek. If I’m going to try to escape and go my own way, I shouldn’t reveal any personal information. Unfortunately, it looks like that opportunity has gone, and I’m also intrigued about their other plans. If anything, this will be the adventure of a lifetime.
“Mckenna.” I swear his eyes flash, and it sends a thrill through me. “Mckenna Grayson.”
After a moment of deliberation, Mace walks behind the chair and unties my hands. Jax rolls his eyes but doesn’t protest the action. I know he’s not supposed to challenge his alpha but they seem pretty familiar.
Once my hands are unbound, I rub my wrists and meet Mace’s eyes again as I bend down slightly. While rolling up the cuff of my pants, I look up and see both of them bracing themselves. I’m almost surprised they haven’t attacked me with the tension running through their bodies.
Laughing, I keep rolling up my pants to my mid-thigh and undo the tracker strapped to my leg. We’re required to wear it when entering any Insignys building to prove our identity, but I’ve wanted to do this for some time.
“See this?” I hold up the black band with a red, blinking square in the middle of it. “This shows sweet pops where his daughter is at all times. Now, he’s probably not giving a fuck, so he’s not looking at it, but why don’t we make sure we’re all on the same side, huh?”
They watch me with confusion as I throw it to the floor and stomp on it, twisting my heel in the center to ensure it’s dead. The red light switches off, and I push my hair out of my face as I look at their shocked expressions with my hands on my hips.
“Now,” I sigh with a grin. “There’s a facility that’s tracking all your clan members, a chip embedded in all your necks since Insignys first came to power.”
“A chip–” Jax sputters.
“Nine years ago – a day my dad ensured that no one in your clan remembers – he took drastic measures against your clan. There is more you should hate him for than you know.”
They look at each other with open mouths and wide eyes. “Implantation day, operation wolf collar. That was us.” I grin and walk toward the opening of the bunker. “If you want to destroy it, you can follow me.”
I begin climbing up the ladder before pausing and turning to them.
I smirk. I know they were checking out my ass just now, but I’m not going to let them know I caught them. Instead, I’ll drop another nugget they won’t be able to resist.
“Oh, and we can get your friend Gnash back, too,” I say with as much forced confidence as I can muster. “You just gotta follow my lead.”
What’s my game? I don’t even know.
But one thing is for damn sure. No way am I letting an opportunity like this go to waste. Now I just need these wolves to follow me.

MACE
“Where the hell do you think you’re going?” I chase after Mckenna as she leaves the bunker. She isn’t going anywhere. Not while I have something to say about it.
I check our surroundings to make sure no one is watching. We can’t risk being spotted after all of this. It’d be a shame for everything to come crashing down because I couldn’t control my own captive.
“I’m leading you to the facility that’s tracking you. Isn’t that what you want?” Her tone has a level of confidence I wasn’t expecting. She does understand we’re still in charge, right? This isn’t how it usually works.
I catch up to her no problem and grab her by the arm. Suddenly, my wolf instincts start going crazy in my head.
My inner wolf starts to howl as I touch her. She’s important, it whispers.Don’t let her go. What the hell is it talking about? She is of grave and major importance to us. You must keep her.
