“Are you finally gonna explain yourself? Or do you have a set up waiting for us?” she interrogates.

Natalie sighs as she backs away. “I didn’t think my cover would be out this soon.”

“I fucking knew it. You’re one of my father’s fucking spies.”

I grab Mckenna's hand once I see that she’s about to clock her. I pull her back towards me. I’m not doing this for her benefit but for ours. If we attack Natalie we’ll never find out what’s going on.

Natalie keeps explaining. “I’m adoubleagent. I work for your father and Big Sky. I get paid by both sides to give them information on the other.”

“That’s why you're sleeping with me? You were using me this whole time?’ Jax asks.

There’s a slight quiver in his voice as he says it. His hands are shaking. I can hear his breathing turning heavier. I think he wants to cry.

It gives me more reason to kill her. How dare she use us? Use one of my own for her own greediness?

“No, no, of course not Jax. I can't lie and say that wasn’t my intention at the beginning of our relationship. But I’ve grown to love you. I’ve been giving Insignys some false information since we started seeing more of each other.”

Mckenna throws off my hand. “You told them the truth in there! They’re going to come looking for us now! They saw us on the cameras!”

Natalie laughs and McKenna rolls her neck.

“I moved months ago. I gave them a false address. They’re looking for you guys on some other side of the canyon right now. They gave me the cameras to install myself. They don’t know our location.”

Her words sound to be true and logical. I still don’t trust it enough for her to help us. The’'ll quickly figure out the lie and will connect the dots. I doubt Natalie thought that far down.

Jax doesn’t look too convinced either, despite being confessed to. The double agent crap means she can be lying to us and said the same damn thing to an Insignys agent. I should’ve let Mckenna beat the crap out of her. Better than actually mauling her.

“You still don’t believe me?” she says.

Mckenna snaps. “I mean you were being very secretive with that phone call. What was your plan if I never caught you?”

“To be honest, I wouldn’t say anything yet. Since you wanted to leave as soon as possible, the issue would’ve solved itself. But now…”

“No, no, don’t shift the blame to us. What would’ve happened if they realized you lied about the location? What then, were you planning on throwing us under the bus?”

“I would’ve come up with a lame excuse about the fake address. Then I would lie and say you guys left while I was sleeping.”

“You’re still trying to cover your own ass.”

“Look, Mckenna, we can agree to disagree. Try to understand where I’m coming from. I’m in a tough spot—”

“Because you put yourself there. You don’t know what I have to put up with as his daughter.”

She made the gesture that she’s talking about Jax and I. We decide not to comment since she’s about half right about it. It pisses me off since we just had sex but I’ll deal with it later.

“Listen to me. This canyon is too big to maneuver. My house is not in any GPS yet. Even if they find out we’re not there, it’ll take them days or even weeks to find this house.”

Mckenna storms off away from her. When she walks back to wherever, she pulls me to the side. Jax takes the opportunity to keep arguing with Natalie about their supposed relationship.

“What’s wrong?” I ask.

“It’s still too dangerous. Insignys can be tracking Natalie and she might not even know it herself. For all we know, there’s a high possibility that they know she’s a double agent.”

My eyes widen. “We have to get out of here. Now.”
